Session 25: Asog gets Captured Report
General Summary
We begin the session with the party preparing for their meeting with the Mayor the next day. After a little RP, we head straight into the meeting itself, with the party heading for the townhall. After being told that the Mayor is currently in a meeting with a VIP visitor, they are asked to wait until called. While waiting the party meet up with the Gudvar Merchant Caravan. Cody, Michael, Jason and Aceh were sorting out some paperwork with one of the clerks. While speaking with them, they discover that Eric had sadly passed away a couple of years prior due to old age and sickness. Malakye was also missing, however they were not sure what happened to him. While the were travelling 3 years previously, the group got caught in a serious battle between the wolves and a large bandit group on the Central Plains. During the chaos of the battle Malakye mysteriously disappeared and hasn't been seen since.
As the party conversed with their old friends, the VIP visitor speaking to the Mayor emerged fromt he office with his entourage. Cody identified him as Zaraki Kamir; a living legend and war hero of the Wolf-kin tribes of the Central Plains. (He is rumoured to be the Mayors cousin) With his departure, the party enter to speak with the Mayor. Immediately the Mayor recognises the group, and his demeanor sours almost immediately.
During the confrontation, Asog decides to be entirely honest with the Mayor. Telling him their ridiculous tale of time travel and not knowing about the events the Mayor is referring to. However, despite the absuridy, the Mayor seems to ease off his verbal assault. Some magic trickery from Ophellia reveals that the Mayor was reading their minds, and some insight checks reveal that he believes to an extent of what they are saying. (Namely, he believes that the party believe what they are saying to be the truth, even though it is too unbelievably for him to believe entirely)
Despite his ill feelings towards the group, he allows them to leave his office peacefully. But does warn them not to step out of line or linger too long in Duin. OVer the next few days, the party notice the Mayors son (Captain of the Guard) is closely watching them and keeping tabs on their activities.
The day before their planned departure, Asog decides to go and see of Malady Chronique has returned to the Devils Menagerie HQ. Icarus attempts to follow Asog, noticing his departure as slightly odd. However, Asog notices Icarus following him and challenges his comrade to leave him to his business. After a few harsh words are exchanged between the two, they go their separate ways. Icarus returns to the bar, while Asog heads to meet Malady.
Arriving at the Menagerie, Asog inquires with the guard to meet with Malady. Shortly after, they return with Lockjaw, who escorts him to meet Malady in her laboratory. Inside the grand room, filled with modeled remains of many creatures, he meets Malady and attempts to negotiate a deal for the information he wants without having to surrender himself to her experiments. However, a few minutes into the conversation the door to the lab opens and Malady and Dakota enter, leaving Asog confused as to why he is seeing two Malady's.
The one he had been speaking to was Hazirawn himself, disguised by magic to look like Malady. Asog attempts to leave, but quickly finds himself overwhelmed by his opponents, and ultimately surrenders after it becomes clear that he won't be able to escape.
The following day after Asog didn't return (The rest of the party unaware of where he was going), Zolv use his magic to contact Asog. Asog's short response clearly indicates that he is in trouble and has been captured by the Devil's Menagerie. They begin discussions about what they should do next.
