Session #3 Report

General Summary

As our band of adventurers made the final stretch of their journey upriver towards Silver Hold, they ask their guide Akinari about the creature that attacked the Sampan and nearly devoured her. She explained that such a beast is known as the Hanzaki-- an elder version of the Giant River Salamanders that stalk the rivers to grow to sizes that allow them to prey on humans-- she then warned the party that these creatures can regenerate over time, making it a threat that will need to be dealt with sooner than later.   With this thought lingering in their mind they approached the docks of Silver Hold, which were oddly quiet. Arata decided to make some noise to figure out what was going on, much to the dismay of the party. Fortunately, this seemed to work as the calls alerted the Silverguard on the walls to investigate the ruckus-- allowing the party in for both the transfer of the prisoners and granting them an audience with the Warden of Silverhold, Seiji Tadashi.   Before their meeting, the party was able to eavesdrop on the sentencing of the prisoners. They learned that Shin had his sentence extended from a little more than a year to five for both his escape attempt and the stolen Sampan he sunk in the river in the attempt. The little pickpocket known as Choko was reluctantly sentenced by the Warden for a term until she hit maturity, where she would then be offered a job for her continued service.   Reassured by these relatively reasonable punishments given the circumstances, the party was able to pursue their business. They learned that the miners uncovered some sort of monster made of stone, that the mines were shut down, and the reason that no word reached the city was due to all of their boats being out of commission. Despite the Warden’s concern that Kondo was making a powerplay to embarrass the Warden… he offered the party the job of slaying the monster.   His offer appeared favorable, with 2 Gold Kobans each, 3 Healing Potions, Lanterns, and a Healing Kit for the job… with a bonus of a Koban per life they were able to rescue those that got lost in the carnage of the creature’s discovery. After taking a few moments to prepare, and accepting Arata’s offer to join them, they made their way down into the depths of the mines to slay the Earth Elemental that lurks down below...
