The Rising Koi Saga: Chapter 14 Report

General Summary

With their business completed with Warden Seji of Silverhold, the newly minted Adventuring Company known as The Rising Koi set sail down the river with determination to take advantage of the Five-Day headstart on the Monster Hunting gig to finally slay the Hanzaki that had attempted to eat all of them within their three encounters with the river monster. As the Sampan transport started its 4 Hour trip down the Silverway River, they discussed strategies on how to finally kill it– and ensure it wouldn’t escape a fourth time.   And as per usual, the creature would eventually come to attempt to prey on the crew of the boat it spotted within its hunting territory. Daiono would sink the first of their five allotted harpoons into the 30-foot long creature as the others unleashed their fury on the Monster. With its poor eyesight, it consumed the closest prey it could find– Arata– before attempting to flee the barrage. The Party was coordinated this time, however, as they held fast on to the ropes of the harpoon before the cord snapped. Fortunately, they were able to think fast and keep an eye on the creature. They would repeat the process of spearing the Beast with their Harpoons, holding on as it tried to flee until the rope snapped once again, only to chase it down a total of three times. With some quick thinking, Xiyan ordered Akinari to ram it, forcing it on deck where Bimbledorf froze it to the deck where it was forced to rip its own flesh off as it attempted to flee in a panic. But the Rising Koi prevailed as a team, even able to save their unconscious friend from the belly of the beast.   Utterly exhausted from the constant harassments of the creature, the party hauled the creature onto riverbanks where they skinned and decapitated the creature before burning away its insides to ensure it could not use its regenerative abilities that legends spoke of from such a creature. As they made their way back to Silverport with desires of some much-needed rest and a chance to enjoy their newly earned Kobans, they were greeted with the sight of smoke and guards trying to quell flames of the burning Temple of Guardians. Xiyan was able to save the lives of 3 of the Four visible Acolytes who resided within the Temple. Which left the question of where were the remaining Six were unaccounted for… looking at the inferno of the building a sense of dread of where they must still linger dawned on them, if these young men of the cloth were to stand a chance of survival– Someone was going to have to go back in there to find them.
