The Porte-Entre-Porte Vacation Report

General Summary

Domisi 31   After a successful hunt for a wyvern, that turned out to be a mating pair, the group returned to Port-Entre-Portes with 2 wyvern heads. The bounty on one was agreed at 8000 blun. The castellan doesn't have double the bounty on hand, as they expected only one wyvern. This puts him in a bind. The players suggest paying the one bounty, but allowing them to keep the heads. The castellan agrees.   Discussion ensues on what to do with the heads. It is eventually agreed that one of them will be made into a bassinet, but the teeth will be replaced by Ivan by some crafted teeth to make it safer. Adaon will use the real teeth for spell components.   Domisi 32   Adaon is discussing with some of the party about sacrificing a priest of Ga-La (the sun god) to Necros. The party doesn't know why, and he is not sharing.   Later in the morning, Adaon comes to the group and says, "Evelyn, I need your help with something. We'll be gone for the day."   Dathania , Evelyn, Cyren, and Ivan start discussing hunting, and include the pros and cons of hunting humans. Dathania states that hunting people is more of a policing effort to bring them to trial, not the same thing as hunting animals.   Evelyn says, "We could always go crabbing for giant crabs. Think of how hard it would be to wrestle one of those suckers!" She continues on, "What if they're intelligent? Then they would have maneuvers. And maybe they could use weapon!" Everyone groans and dismisses this whole concept. Dathania and Talia just want to enjoy the rest of their honeymoon with Cyren.   Adaon and Evelyn take a magical portal to Datova, while rest of the group believes that Adaon and Evelyn are looking for some kind of drugs for Adaon to use in his magic. However, they are looking for a specific type of Ga-La priest. As Adaon is a priest of Necros, he is looking for a confrontation with this other priest in order to capture him/her.   Adaon portals the two to Datova, where they locate a priest of Ga-La. Adaon also visits his parents, briefly. The priest is in a major temple, so kidnapping one will be difficult.   The plan is for Evelyn to present herself to them as someone who can catch a priest of Necros, the death god. So, Evelyn goes into the church, wearing her best clothes. She goes into the church....   Adaon has mentally connected himself to Evelyn through a sorceric wizard's mark. Evelyn enters the temple and slides into one of the benches to await the priest's attention. After a long wait, the priest of Ga-La approaches her. She explains that she know where there is a priest of Necros. The priest goes and gets an inquisitor. Another 20 minutes or so go by and the inquisitor comes by and questions Evelyn. He is skeptical, as she seems too enthusiastic. He says that they must investigate to be certain of the accusation. Evelyn arranges a time that she will invite him to dinner and they can observe   Adaon sets up a nimbusspell as protection for Evelyn, just in case things go badly.   Meanwhile, Cyren and Ivan are seeking to find crime and deal with that back in Port-Entre-Portes. Cyren gets the brilliant idea of looking in the sheriff's office. Ivan comments that they're looking for crime, not corruption. Cyren just rolls his eyes. They enter and there are 8 wanted posters, each with a small bounty on them. The bounties range from 50 to 500 blun, the lowest being "wanted for questioning". All are wanted alive.   They both want to go look into it in the rougher areas of the town. So, the first place they look is at the docks, which they are already somewhat familiar with, thanks to the werewolf incident. The one they choose is a suspect in the murder of a ship's captain. The ship is still in dock, as it hasn't been able to operate without its owner/captain.   Ivan invites Catalina along to act as translator, since neither he nor Cyren speak French. She reluctantly agrees.   They go and visit Ours. Ivan introduces Ours to Cyren... "Cyren, this is the werewolf you shot in the face." They shake hands. Ivan asks, "Do you recognize the man in this picture?" as he shows Ours the wanted picture. Ours doesn't recognize him, but says that he might know some people who would. They follow him to a local hangout, where dock hands and sailors are having lunch.   Ivan and Cyern go with Ours to the tavern/restaurant and ask around about the person on the drawing. They eventually find a couple of sailors who recognize him and say they saw him praying at the church of Jegia a few days ago, at the north end of the city.   Meanwhile, in Datova the other two are having an early lunch, conversing together quietly. They are both prepared for heavy combat. Adaon uses his sorcery to detect how many thought streams there are in the restaurant, and discovers that there are four people more here than there are active minds, thus they are likely protected from his magic. No-one attacks or bothers them. Evelyn tries to listen around to see who are those people, and notices that there is a couple who are eating, but not actually talking to each other. She suspects that these two, nondescript people, are the spies. Shortly thereafter Evelyn and Adaon leave, separately. The couple stays inside and no-one appears to be following them.   Cyren and Ivan go to the temple of Jegia and ask about the criminal, showing a priestess the picture. The temple, which is a beautiful open air style temple, where the architecture is covered in vines and nature carvings, also has an oak grove. The priestess states that she recognizes him, and that he comes to pray every few days, and seems like a very troubled person.   Ivan and Cyren discuss the options. The decide to ask the locals here in the northern part of town about the criminal. Then they decide that Ivan is going to disguise himself using a magical cloak and wig and spy on the temple, while Cyren would go ask around the neighbourhood.   Meanwhile, Adaon heads to the temple of Necros and volunteers to help out with preparations for the deceased. Evelyn goes shopping, then visits the temple of Ga-La, then changes her mind and goes to rent a room at an inn in a different area than Adaon, deciding that she will go to the port and have swordfish for dinner.   Adaon checks to see if he is followed and believes that he is. However, no-one actually tries to nab him. Adaon magically contacts Ivan to tell him what he and Evelyn are doing. Ivan gets upset with him and calls him "a shady bastard" for not telling the rest of the group that he is trying to capture an inquisitor. Ivan tells Adaon that he and Cyren are doing some bounty hunting.   Adaon continues on to the temple of Necros.   Ivan informs Cyren what Adaon and Evelyn are doing. Cyren gets upset, thinking this is a bad idea. Ivan says if this goes bad, Ivan will go and tell Adaon's mom, and he really doesn't want to do that. They then go to the dyer's district in search of their bounty. They are unable to find any information.

Missions/Quests Completed

1. Ivan is to find the person suspected of murdering a ship's captain. Cyren was helping, but his wives are upset as this is supposed to be their honeymoon and he's working.   2. Adaon and Evelyn seek to capture an inquisitor.

Created the cannon that the church of Ga-La has inquisitors in some locations.

Notes

Need to flesh out the cannon of the inquisitors. As they are highly lawful, there will be a strict code of conduct and procedures that they follow, This will make it difficult for them to be snatched by Adaon and Evelyn, but it will also make it so that their aggression towards a priest of Necros must be done openly and within the laws of Datova. Trials will also follow a rule of law (but the law will be very biased in their favour).
