Finding Malquira Report
General Summary
Kursi 31
Morning comes and everyone starts discussing the plan. It is discovered that Cyren has fallen ill with a mysterious malady. He will likely stay at the inn.
Now, because the clothing style is quite different here, the visitors stand out. Of course Ivan Thurisaz and Evelyn would stand out anyhow, being non-human. When wandering the streets Ivan and Evelyn get their first ever look at a Trellar. The next go to a locksmith so that Evelyn can get her six small chests opened in a place away from home. Fortunately the locksmith speaks Halven.
The chests are:
- a bunch of broken glass figurines
- an antique sextant
- a set of six ornate glass and gold rimmed shot glasses
- three pairs of antique reading glasses
- an ornately carved gaming set - chips and cards
- a collection of antique false teeth a) wooden b) ivory c) iron d) gold alloy Evelyn decides to test the gold teeth by biting them, but does not leave a mark on them.
Evelyn then asks the locksmith if there is anyone nearby who can act as a translator. The locksmith directs them to
Simon, the Trellar. So, they walk the block over to the ship Simon is on, and ask for him. He shows up and it's discovered that he speaks at least three language -
Lainshoan,
Malquiran, and
Halven. He does say a few words in
Jarik, but they are heavily accented and the grammar is a little off. He agrees to work for them for a blun per day plus expenses and food. And he takes to the tailor where he got his bright purple pants made.
Ivan asks about the dyes the tailor can sell. He can't sell them, and directs them to the dyers guild. They wander to the river near the dyers' guild. The smells are gloriously strong and disgusting. It almost overwhelms Simon, but Evelyn is teasing of the other two. Ivan approaches the person at the guild about buying some dyes.
Two purples - one will cost him 50 blun, 30 for the other. Blue - 40 blun Black - 70
They all rejoin
Adaon, he gives the money to Evelyn and she and Simon leave to get the dye. When the two of them pass through a park, Simon takes to the treetops to travel. He says, "That felt good!" when they to the other side of the park. Evelyn is jealous that she can't swing from the trees.
When Evelyn arrives the dyer is nervous and steps back after he puts her dye on the counter. He waits until she is distracted by putting the dye in her magic bag before taking the money. When she parts she says, Thank you. And may you have the day you deserve." He doesn't know how to take this and is even more nervous now.
Adaon uses a detection spell to find any portals throughout the city, spending the next four hours seeking these, specifically searching for the magical traces he already knows the necromancer they are searching for has. He finds nothing.
In talking about what they are searching for Simon asks why they don't just ask sailors, since they hear everything. It also comes out that he speaks eight languages, which is why he is on the trade ship he's on, as it travels to several different ports in its yearly route.
Ivan decides he's going to try to see if there is a thieves' guild, and talk with them.
The sailors quickly find information and give it to Evelyn. So she and Simon head towards the harbor master with the information to see if they can find the logs on the ship, The Dawn Serpent, to see where it was going. While on the way there they are waylaid by six thugs who try to mug them. Simon lets out a loud "Whoop!" and runs up one of them onto the roofs of the nearby building, while Evelyn checks one out of the way and runs away.
They meet a few blocks away. Simon tries to help Evelyn climb the building for a safer route, but she can't seem to climb at all. So, he goes along the buildings while she sneaks towards the harbor master. She decides to see if she can sneak up to the biggest of the thugs and steal his belt. She fails to do so, and he notices her! He tries to grab her, but fumbles, his pants fall down, and he falls while Evelyn runs away.
She and Simon meet up and have a laugh before they go the harbour master. He refuses to let them have access to anything without a writ. They leave. Late that night. they sneak back and use the portal sword to get into the office and take the book for a few minutes, finding that the ship is headed to Datova, carries six passengers, dyes, exotic woods, cloth, and wool. Adaon memorizes the names of the passengers and they put the book back, then head for supper.
Ivan is upset that they didn't have time to find a thieves' guild here.
Everyone goes and has supper. Simon orders some weird food - escargot, meal worms, raw steak... Ivan and Evelyn decide to eat as much of it as they can (Evelyn can't eat red meat, so skips that). He is quite happy. Oh, Adaon pays him 50 blun for help in getting the book from the harbour office.
Adaon creates a new version of
equilibriumto use to get the boat they buy for 100 blun to travel south as quickly as possible. And they travel for 90 minutes southward. You're all in a row boat that Adaon is towing magically at 25kph. Ivan is busy throwing up all over everything.
still has traveler's diarrhea.
They camp on shore, in a wild area.

During the night some critters stole half of their food.
Come morning they zoom off and travel for up to six hours southwards. They pass a few ships coming north, and do pass two heading south that are obviously not the Dawn Serpent.
After three hours, Evelyn spots the ship on the horizon. Adaon makes an illusion of the boat and occupants looking like a narwhal. He makes it look genuine, including the swimming under and surfacing.
They catch up to the ship, hidden by the illusion of blending into the sea. Adaon casts a mass sleep spell which puts most of the crew and passengers asleep. He goes on board and materializes. Evelyn climbs aboard, but Ivan is unable to.
Once on board they see a sailor up in the rigging looking quite afraid and upset, They reassure him that he's safe and they'll only be a few minutes. Then someone steps out of the front cabin. A female Ælf confronts them, and yeets Evelyn into the ocean with a magic spell. Evelyn swims to the boat and climbs into it with Ivan and Cyren. Adaon confronts the Ælf, but she refuses to give him access. It is obvious that she has spells ready to go should he make any further aggressive moves. Before they can attack each other, she gets some kind of feeling and says, "Oh no!" then vanishes.
A few seconds later and part of the floor of the ship explodes upward, splinters flying. Adaon barely stays upright. A cloud of black comes up and then disappears.
Ælatta then floats up afterwards, cursing loudly. Adaon says, "That is who I am after!"
Ælatta curses some more and cries."My ship!" Adaon offers to fix it for her. She accepts. He spends about 10 minutes and a LOT of his stored spells/magic to fix it. They then go below deck and see the remains of a circle. Adaon restores it and traces where the necromancer went. He follows her magically and attacks with a psychic lance, but only after forcing her to reveal an image of where she hid the orb. He gets an image from her of a castle on a floating island a couple of hundred metres above the sea.
His battle results in her being injured severely to her willpower and him passing out.
Session ends here.
