Session 1.2 Report: Wretched Little Things

General Summary

This session saw the group split temporarily whilst they pursued personal aspirations. Wilbur, unfortunately, was unable to attend.

To start, Chloe began googling her own name while Rebecca Woodward tutored some piano students in the background. Despite the horrible attempts at music, she was able to easily discover that her Fetch was mildly famous in the fashion industry, and employed by the London based Sherwani Company. She resolved to pay the offices a visit the next day, in order to stalk her fetch.

Anne Heart meanwhile had been invited to meet her assigned social worker, Martin Kemp, at a church service in the district of St Katharine's Dock. Upon reaching her bus stop, she bumped into the Freehold's least favorite Knight, Lazarus Harlow, who gave her an old cell phone before disappearing into the morning fog.

Upon arriving at the church, Anne proceeded to rescue Martin from an altogether awkward situation: Discussing a missing person's case with a handful of busybodies. With that out of the way, he in turn introduced her to Mildred Bromden, who, to be clear, intimidated dear Mister Kemp like nothing else.

"The pests we deal with are wretched, misbehaved little things, Miss Heart. Can you put up with them?" was Mildred's method of greeting, because it really needed to be stressed that she's in it for the animal's sake. Certainly not money laundering or government kickbacks or anything.

Anne soon discovered that the animals in the church cellar were neglected. Flea-ridden, rarely taken out of their cages, and not terribly responsive. She resolved to help them, and was scheduled to return Monday through Friday for a regular 9-5 shift.

The following day, Chloe arrived outside the Sherwani Company's offices just in time to catch the worker bees leaving for the day. Taking shelter at a bus stop across the street, she prepared to settle into a stakeout.

Chloe's plans went awry, however, when it became clear that her Fetch not only owned a car, but had a few bodyguards on payroll. Without much else to do, she stormed into the car park and began flinging accusations about. The most prominent was one gleaned by tasting the Fetch's regret on the late Autumn air:

Once upon a time, the Fetch had a friend named Mahasti. Mahasti was a fellow designer employed by Sherwani, and Not-Chloe would not be where she was today had it not been for her. Unfortunately, the two eventually found themselves in competition within the company. One night, Mahasti overdosed on a prescription drug of some kind (and the Fetch, of course, is not only an alcoholic but addicted to pills as well). Seeing an opportunity, Not Chloe left Mahasti to die.

Reminding the Fetch of this only angered it more, and Chloe was forced to retreat. It was at this point that Lazarus Harlow revealed himself by the bus stop. Thus began a short exchange in which Lazarus attempted to console Chloe and jokingly (we hope) claimed his Fetch had been Jack the Ripper, despite his being far too young for that.

At the end of this, Chloe was left with a cell phone and a bus ticket, both courtesy of Lazarus.

Chloe now has an idea of where her Fetch is, and what might be protecting her.

Anne might receive a reference from the well-connected Mildred Bromden, for finding a paying job.

Lazarus Harlow handed out old cell phones to everyone. Why? Who knows.

Lazarus Harlow happened to be rather busy, dropping cell phones off amongst the Player Characters. He took some time to try to assure Chloe that her attempt to deal with the Fetch got an A for Effort.
