Session 1.3 Report: A Meeting

General Summary

This session consisted mostly of a single scene with an NPC who had a metaphorical glowing yellow exclamation point over her head.

To start, we established that Chloe would be looking for assistance from the Winter Court in dealing with her Fetch. Specifically, Lazarus Harlow was pegged as a particularly good candidate. He's very good at sneaking into places, after all. We'd find out later in this session that this would be a bit trickier than just giving him a knife and a target.

Rebecca Woodward of the Autumn Court, with who Chloe presently lives, suggested that she just ask Summer to deal with it.

We also established that Anne's volunteer job at the Animal Shelter is a bit hum-drum, and the animals aren't exactly friendly. They aren't hostile, either. Hopeless, would be the word. We'll come back to that in a later session.

Lastly, Wilbur woke from a dream about his Keeper. That's totally normal, though, right? Nothing to worry about.

The Tuesday following Anne's meeting with Martin and Chloe's confrontation with her Fetch, the cheap, old cell phones Lazarus had handed out went off. After googling, or just finding old menus, for the "Black Sheep" referenced within, the group discovered they were being asked to travel to 33-35 Eastcheap Street in the City of London, at midnight.

On arrival, Chloe was quick to point out that they were the prophesied doombringers. Thankfully, this had nothing to do with that. It's possible that only those present when Mad Hattie gave her prophesy know about it. One can hope, anyways.

Inside the cafe, the players met with Queen Holly Whittaker. She informed them that she needed something called Lamplighter Wax acquired from the Hedge, and offered favors in return.

Chloe was quick to seal in a pledge to earn the Winter Court's assistance with her Fetch, while Anne requested assistance in acquiring forged identification papers. Wilbur is either doing it pro-bono, or waiting till the job is done. Rewards will be provided once the wax is brought back to London safe and sound.

Holly was incredibly meek, anxious really, and not particularly informative. Somewhere on the other side of London, King Ajax of Summer was giving his courtiers a speech straight out of Gurren Lagann, but unfortunately this is who the Winter Court is stuck with. She did have these suggestions:

  • Don't eat the Honey.
  • Enter via the Blackfriar Station hedgeway. The key is to let a train door know you're looking for a "train going anywhere."
  • She doesn't particularly care how the Honey is acquired, but she isn't providing anything to trade. She thinks theft may be easiest.
  • Dress warmly.

The group resolved to go that very night. We'll pick up the next session as their train pulls into one of the mysterious abandoned stations of London Below, a location in the Hedge specific to London and tied the local Hob's strange fear of the London Underground.
