Session 1.5 Report

General Summary

This session largely consisted of a trip home through the Hedge, followed by a rather strange scene in Wilbur's Hollow.

Returning to where we left off with the three Changeling stranded on the shore of a strange Hedge island in the middle of an emerald sea, we first saw Wilbur construct a raft out of supplies on the island. The construction, with Anne and Chloe's aid, went better than expected, and they soon had an open-air boat of the sort used during the Kon-Tiki expedition in 1947.

The strongest of the three, it was Chloe who put in the most work getting the raft into the ocean, and then they were off. A fog began to form. Thanks to Anne's eyesight, however, they were able to find their way to shore. And just in time at that: As soon as a tidal wave had tossed their little raft onto a new beach, the three spied some strange leviathanesque creature rising from the fog.

Now finding themselves in a forest of overgrown bookcases, the three realized they were in Wilbur's Hollow. There was a small problem, however. From somewhere among the stacks there came a muttering.

Cautiously advancing into the hollow, the three soon came across Wilbur's interloper: A disheveled and distressed man, clutching at his head and stumbling about. Drawing closer, they soon found the cause of the distress to be that he was lacking a face. Eyes, nose, ears, mouth. All were missing, and this made communication quite difficult.

Anne recognized the creature as a Hollow Haunt, a specific sort of Hedge Ghost known for haunting hollows. What it was doing in Wilbur's was anyone's guess.

After some deliberation among the three, Wilbur chose to approach the Faceless Man with some paper and ink. Upon doing so, Anne and Chloe saw him freeze in place.

From the girl's perspective, Wilbur simply dropped the ink and paper, causing a bit of a mess. And then he began to weep.

From Wilbur's perspective, the Faceless Man would show him a photo from his wallet. A smiling older man, and a teenage daughter. As the vision came to an end, Wilbur realized that he needed to bring some closure to this ghost of a Father, and began to lament the cruelties of the Hedge.

With everyone settling in to try and get some rest, the session came to an end.
