The Obelisk of the Clock Report
General Summary
The third obelisk, sits partially submerged in a body of water, from the outside it looks as though parts of it have been dissolved or eaten away. Fira and Yfra approach first, hovering above the surface of the water. As they approach several symbols begin glowing on the surface of the obelisk. Examining them Fira determines it is a form of lock, and working together Yfra and Fira manage to find the correct combination in relatively short order. The place is dark and appears to have been abandoned for some time but is not apparently decaying the same way the second one was. We enter to find ourselves in a room lined with what are reminiscent of training dummies and racks of unfamiliar weapons. When we enter the room it suddenly feels like we are wading through molasses, movements are slowed. When Hamilcar and Augus join us they find themselves feeling almost buoyed, unaffected by this peculiar force. The "training dummies" are biomechanical in nature and are inactive and broken, we could reactivate one if we wanted but it would require cobbling together from pieces from several to make one working one. The passage leading from this room is decrepit but passable and free of the sensation of pushing through viscous fluid. Augus and Fira manage to repair one of them, and Yfra gives it a shot finding that it responds to attacks by attacking back in kind with a punch returned with interest. Experimenting with its responses Fira attempts an esotery based attack and a shimmering shield activates reflecting her attack back at her. We move on, pushing past and around broken rubble and conduits and wires finding ourselves in a series of rubble filled rooms with chairs and tables and scattered remaining personal effects. We find things such as toolbelts, weaponry that is familiar though modified in interesting ways, and a couple cyphers. We traverse several other rooms before finding an obelisk with a series of mirrors that when arranged properly reveal the text "Avenge my Death". A closed off room attached to the main one contains a relatively well preserved Mlox corpse with a datapad containing a journal with a protracted war against the "great enemy", fighting against the invaders and a last suicide/sabatoge mission. We presume this means the architects of the obelisks were the enemy of the Mlox and this individual died during said mission. During our explorations it becomes clear that spatial relationships within the obelisk are not so straightforward and despite the corridors and rooms appearing to all physical senses to be level and flat corridors and doors lead to places that would not be possible if things were behaving in normal 3D euclidean space. We find a Mind Crystal Fira communicates with the stored mind, Nyx Meeka, confirms that the obelisk builders considered the Mlox their enemy. That the obelisks were essentially life rafts from a world destroyed by war. She claims that the Mlox were the aggressors with an expansionist policy (the exact opposite perspective presented by the dead Mlox's notebook). After learning what she can, but receiving no real information to confirm whether the obelisk builders were human, or more accurately the precursors to what is now known as humanity or to another still extant humanoid biological race she relays what she learned to the others. Suggesting that, though it could also be a bad idea, it did occur to her that it could be interesting to place the mind in the body of one of her own enemies, perhaps giving her a new perspective on the actual differences vs not, but saying they of course do not have to make any decisions yet and that if we wanted a more modern perspective on the Mlox's disposition we could return to Umdera and Yfra could speak to them about it. For now, we resolve to continue our exploration of the obelisk.
