Sadu Emidu Report
General Summary
Violent Reincarnations in the River City
We appear in the center of Sada Emidu in the middle of a conflict, just in time to see the guards dispatch a woman surrounded by the bodies of 7 other people who are slain. Upon being taken to the station and talking to the guard captain we learn the story of Karna who had been a well-liked and respected citizen of Sada Emidu. She and her sister tended an orchard/farm on the northeast outskirts of the city. She died in a farming accident due to wear on a critical piece of their grain harvesting machine. A few weeks after her death she returned, apparently well, and it was hailed as a miracle until the day in a bar when she seemed to go beserk lashing out with a knife and apparently intent on killing everyone until she was killed again. Only to reappear again a few days later, repeating the cycle again and again but with a shorter and shorter time before becoming uncontrollably violent. Additionally in each incarnation she seems to be more well armed and armored than the last. Because it was a matter of a new body appearing every time rather than of the old one reviving no one knew how to stop it from happening again. Upon investigating we learn that her sister Laneries was sold a cypher ( Datasphere Wish Cypher ) that she was told would grant a single wish and she used it to wish for her sister back. Using the cypher Fira No'Var was able to create a "homing beacon" capable of tracing back to the datasphere node that is attempting to fulfill this requested process.Skybreaker Ruin
Following its guidance for over a day's travel away from Sada Emidu we encounter a massive ruin with hundreds of tubes emitting a blue glowing substance and locate a number of openings allowing access into the ruin. The "hallway" is tunnel-like, reminiscent of a sewer pipe with a glowing blue substance (effluvium ) running through the bottom. The effluvium grants light but apparently reacts with numenera on contact. The surface is uneven and slippery and it's a little difficult to move safely through. We eventually make our way into a several larger rooms containing pools of the effluvium and one with a control panel that allows some control of the level of effluvium and/or a few other more difficult things including forming the effluvium into a creature or a cypher. We encounter Hod, a Nevajin who lives in the Skybreaker. They seem to have taken up residence in order to study the structure and effluvium it contains. In exchange for a cypher they confirm Fira's hypothesis that the datasphere is essentially manufacturing copies of Karna, and additionally opines that if we simply destroy the conduit here it will not stop the generation of more copies, but simply result in the incarnations leaving through a different conduit and continuing to attempt to return to Sada Emidu. There is a conduit into the datasphere (into the Nutrica Node ) through which the reincarnations of Karna are exiting after being generated within the datasphere.Into the Datasphere, again
We use the conduit to enter the Datasphere finding ourselves within the Nutrica Node in a grey cube-like room with several large discs (large enough to stand on) in two groupings set on the floor:Rewards Granted
