Game Recap - August 19th - Cave of the Moons

General Summary

Traveling across the main continent of the world, a large caravan makes its way across a smaller section of the Konimus desert. About 20 or 30 people strong, the caravan curves across the desert towards the oasis in the far-off distance. Seen on the horizon is a gathering storm, the likes of which disturbs the caravan master. The storm gathers more quickly than the caravan master expects, and eventually the caravan is pinned down, split into two different sections, they take cover under rocky outcroppings in the hopes that they’ll be safe from the storm.   Thunder rains down from the sky, and after Darodin Stoneforge, the Dwarvish fighter, frightens the daylights out of one of the caravan hands, it strikes the poor boy down halfway across the road to the safety of the master’s wagon.   With a stroke of luck, the party finds a small crevice into which they can squeeze one by one, finding themselves in a cave that feels of magic, and with walls lined with glittering green gems that light the ceiling and rock walls of the cavern with stars. Upon traveling further into the cavern, the party sees the flickering light of a fire reflecting from somewhere nearby and they carefully make their way towards it, with Hoggs bolstered by the strength grated to him by his reckless ingestion of a strange underground plant.   Reynauld and Dart can hear the quiet laughter of a child in the cavern, a quiet sound that escapes the notice of most of the party, and while they continue to hear it, they make their way ever closer toward the light of the fire that they can still see. The grip of an illusion very nearly draws Dart away from the party, and both Reynauld and Sa’rai sense a fey presence, though they cannot ascertain its purpose. Around the fire, when they finally enter the chamber in which it burns, the party encounters two kobolds speaking about things that the books spoke of, insisting that ‘it’s here, the books say so.’ They are led by a winged kobold, and before any further discussion can be had, they are alerted to Darodin’s presence by the clanking of his armor. A battle ensues, leaving Darodin wounded. One kobold is killed and the winged one is mortally wounded, finished off moments later by a stroke from Darodin’s sword.   At the close of the session, Darodin, Dart, and Hoggs remain in the chamber with the one remaining kobold, while Sa’rai, Reynaud, and Calcine have started making their way towards the eerie dancing lights that can only be the work of the mysterious fey.
