Session I: Attack on the Lightning Rail

General Summary

30 Halone 996 YK   The adventurers find themselves in the small hamlet of Sandpoint in-between the cities of Wroat and Sharn in the nation of Breland. Each of them has their own reasons to head to Sharn. After a long night of drinking Koko Kupo and Kanye head back to Koko's aunt's inn, The Smokey Bear, to find some reprieve. They help an exotic, beautiful woman named Rias deal with a handsy old man and she shyly thanks them before running away. Kanye decides to continue his trail on a wealthy traveler he saw the other day and drags Koko along. They find the traveler also taking the same train to Sharn. The suspecting individual, Xaris, clearly notices two tagging her, and evades their shenanigans and escapes into the train car as they follow. In the meantime, Rias sneaks into the back of one of the train cars as it begins its journey to Sharn.   During the train ride the scene pans to Gideon is in his luxury cabin working on some artifice schemas as he prepares for his meeting with Merrix d'Cannith of House Cannith, Xaris is passed out on her bed, Kanye drinks and tries to con a recent divorcee in the mess hall, Koko attempts to break into Xaris' room (failing and accidentally locking her in with a fork stuck in the keyhole) and then drinks with Kanye and the divorcee in defeat, and Rias hides in the corner of the stable car starting at a dinosaur named Bobo who is constantly staring at her.   Midway through the journey the train is boarded and commandeered by Brutus and the Cutters, a group of warforged terrorists known as The Blades. After taking hostage the train conductor, they inform the passengers to not resist as the Cutters accost the travelers. The adventurers confront the Cutters and decide to take fate into their owns as they fight their way to the front of the train. Kanye and Koko befriend the warforged train attendant Fives who had been serving them drinks before being boarded and attack, who leads the adventurers to the front of the train cart where they encounter Brutus. The fight is difficult but with the combined strength of the five, Brutus is taken down by the ice magicks of Rias. The train conductor thanks them, and they are hailed heroes by the travelers on the train.   They arrive at Terminus Station in Sharn where they are personally greeted by Lord Mayor Margrave ir'Cethleann and a contingent of the King's Shields (the security arm of the King's Citadel) after hearing about deeds of the adventurers inside the train. He respectfully thanks them for their service to the crown, presents them with a reward for their good deeds, and requests to have them in retainer for future services on behalf of the city council and Sharn. News reporters come in to accost them for an interview as Kanye and Koko brag about their deeds, Gideon looks upon the scene with curiosity, and Rias and Xaris stay back avoiding any further interaction. Xaris and Margrave secretly communicate with each other magically. Kanye feels a presence watching over him, as he turns around, he says behind him on top of the golden arches of the station the slight smile and devilish eyes of his former handler, Thora Tarkanan. She gives him a wry before vanishing.   Koko invites them to her restaurant, The Cloud Dragon, to celebrate. The group is still unsure how fate has intertwined them together, but with the five of them under service of the city and the crown their destinies seem to be projected in the same direction. Where though is anyone's guess.
