Breaking Point

A Dungeons & Dragons 5e game In the world of Aresuul 2.0
| Full
Nearing 300 years after the event that destroyed much of the world of Aresuul, the land has rebounded with a vibrancy not seen before. Magic is abundant in the world and available to even the most simple of minds. It permeates the air and land itself—a blessing from the goddess of life and rebirth. With the abundancy of magic as high as it is, monsters and beasts of the arcane nature have proven to become a reoccurring threat to many of the age. The Everguard, the renowned company of monster slayers, have been hard pressed as it is in these times of exploring the frontier. The need for mercenary groups and adventuring parties has provided the means for many of these individuals to rise above their station as heroes of the century. Notably, the success of an adventuring party of beast-races has garnered the attention of the sovereign of Myalith and his council. Having ousted the twisted fey of Stranglethorn, defeated the cultists of Noxx in their attempt to raise a dracolich, and saving the kingdom's leadership from an innovative oblex—the party has certainly made a name for themselves and provided a means for the beast-races of Karesuhl to receive fair treatment and respect in the surrounding kingdoms where there was previously disdain. The kingdom of Myalith has since elevated the position of these heroes to that of guardians of the kingdom and provided the individuals with a keep outside the prominent trade city of Tylandir—where they have befriended many of the upstanding merchants with their constant trade—earning a sponsorship from the best arcane blacksmith in the land. Even with as much success as these individuals and the kingdom of Myalith have had, there are still many dangers creeping in the shadows of Esvarle's ornate spires. As the pinnacle of arcane knowledge, Esvarle's Arcanum Incarnate (the notable academy for those gifted in the arcane arts) has been beseeched by many an intrusion or attempted burglary. The rural sections of Myalith, too, experience trouble from the roaming bands of bandits and barbaric wood elf tribes. Occasionally the farming communities near the border of Ul'Ghos will receive unwanted attention from raiding gnoll parties. Even dragons have proved to be a common nuisance in the kingdom. Dragons have seemed to have a resurgence in numbers since the events following the Planar Rupture. Though these dragons do not retain the immortality nor godliness of their predecessors, they are still extraordinary creatures demanding of respect and care. Within the Lithandin Crown, the mountain range that surrounds the jeweled capital city of Esvarle, dragons have become noticeably prominent. The mountains seem to prove a safe hunting ground for young dragons—as they are ripe with game and room for a small lair. Surveyors have noted an extreme increase in numbers for both Copper and Red dragons. Though it is known that these two breeds are prone to disagreements between each other—they have not outright slaughtered one another and seem to cohabitate in armistice if not outright peace.
