In the early days of Aresuul, savage beasts roamed the untamed lands and threatened to destroy the early people of the world. Alliances were forged, clans formed kingdoms, and the beasts were pushed back. As time wore on, the world encountered adversity but always managed to bounce back from the brink of destruction. This continued until the Planar Rupture, called the Sundering by many uneducated masses.   The Planar Rupture brought death and destruction with it. Life nearly ceased to exist. The land was ashen. The water was acrid. The air was thin. Life was a desperate struggle. By the mercy of a nearly forgotten deity was life restored to Aresuul. Still, energy from the Planar Rupture corrupted the earth and traces of arcane magic run rampant throughout the world.   In the wake of the world's rebirth, the survivors rebuilt their countries from the ground up. Traditions were barely remembered but practiced at every opportunity. The two known and explored continents, Karesuhl and Vaashente, remain ruled by both civilized country and untamed savage wilderness. Rumors of unexplored vast stretches of land beyond these continents rings wide from city to city and has ushered in a new age of exploration. Adventurers have found themselves loaded with enough work to last a lifetime as they venture forth on a path of discovery.   Even with the rebuilt nations sending forth explorers, the land they leave behind finds itself stalked by symptoms of the Planar Rupture. Beasts and aberrations not of this plane threaten the people of Aresuul. In the wake of these destructive forces, an agreement formed between nations and the Everguard was founded to fight the monstrosities that threaten the lives of Aresuul's many denizens.   With the world having finally recovered from the onslaught of the Planar Rupture, there is still much to be explored and a group of adventurers will find little rest in their endeavors.
