Session 2 Notes: The Mysterious Illness

General Summary

The PCs arrived at the Cadwalader's winter camp. They investigated the illness and traced the source of the problem to a combination of contaminants that had affected the tribe. Khepri developed a special tea that would help those still suffering ill effects to completely flush the contaminants and restore balance to the patients, although it would still take a couple months to fully work.   After finding more information about the mysterious keep in the fens, the party decided that they were likely the cause of the problem and needed to be confronted. They traveled to the keep and knocked on the door, asking to speak to their leader, Aliyah. Meanwhile, they had Brennus' familiar scout out a bit of the inside of the keep in rat form.   With some persuading, Aliyah agreed to allow the party into the keep's antechamber and to discuss their questions. She admitted that they Gararai and the rest of the party were inside the keep, although she warned the party that Gararai had succumbed to an illness that affected her mind, and that Khepri would find her sadly changed. They also convinced her to allow them to have dinner with Gararai and to camp the night within the antechamber. Although Oenghus proclaimed his certainty that everyone in the keep was a bad guy, and skill checks affirmed Aliyah was definitely hiding things, the party in general was not completely convinced of their guilt, arguing that they had good answers for all the questions and that their care for Gararai and their scholarly/scientific focus showed their good intentions.   They set a guard at night, but with their defenses lowered, they succumbed to sleep. Only to awaken in individual locked underground cells.
