Add trenchpunk as a genre

genre genres world-configuration trenchpunk

What functionality is missing? What is unsatisfying with the current situation?

There are several options to choose in the "Genre" subsection of the "Additional" under "Settings" when you configure your world. The list is far from complete and I'm not suggesting that we add all possible genres, but I think it'd be great to add trenchpunk as my new setting will be sort of a trenchpunk setting inspired in the 1900s-1920s (not necessarily dieselpunk because people mostly associate dieselpunk with WWII) and the warfare tactics that were common in Europe.

How does this feature request address the current situation?

With the "trenchpunk" genre as a real option I'd be able to convey a clearer picture of my setting to people who are new to it.

What are other uses for this feature request?

Other people with similar settings would be able to use it.

Don't think this will change much for the average user, but could be a neat genre to browse.

The genre options don't actually tell users what the genre is. Since trenchpunk isn't something known by a lot of people you would still have to explain it. But it would add a separate filter to find your world on the Discord Worlds page to browse by genre.

Your front page text, subtitle, and meta - basically, your 'elevator pitch' - should probably be doing the heavy lifting here. I'm all for additional world customization options, but the semantic gap between dieselpunk and trenchpunk seems much narrower than that found between the other genres we have access to. This is also where being able to have multiple genre tags like we do here on WA is nice; for example, if 'dieselpunk' alone doesn't fit or is only tangentially related, then maybe adding 'alternate history,' 'military,' or 'neo noir' to the list might help specify it a little more.   I could see agreeing to this suggestion if it were rephrased as requesting something similar that more clearly indicates the era ('deco punk'?) so it can be combined with other genres as indicated above to achieve the desired effect.
