articleblocks articles images
What functionality is missing? What is unsatisfying with the current situation?
Currently, all article blocks just show the header/cover image no matter what type of article it is. However, character articles have a dedicated place for a character portrait and don't often also use a cover image for the character. This makes scrolling through characters on a world rather boring as you can't see what they look like without clicking into the article itself.
I would request that if the article type is a character and has an image, that image should show for the article block.
How does this feature request address the current situation?
This would replace the generic cover image with the character portrait where one is assigned to the character, making it much more visually appealing when scrolling through lists of characters.
What are other uses for this feature request?
This would also be useful in seeing PCs in a campaign as well as NPCs in a category. This could also potentially be used for other article types that have a dedicated image attached (like organization crests/flags/etc).
The Team's Response
Heya guys, this was the case way back when and we had to change it for reasons described by someone above as well.
Character portraits tend to be vertical images 9:16 in most cases, Setting an image like that as the header of the article considering that the width will always be 1170px means that the header will end up being close to 2200px long .... which is absolutely massive and it does look very bad.
In the case of the article block I see where you are coming from but again the article blocks are using (as currently are) a horizontal image which will also look bad.
What I would like to do to, and I hope you are ok with it is to create a new type of entity called [characterblock:;ID_HERE] which will be designed specifically to suit the needs of a character by setting its image to be a portrait but it is also supported by things like the full name/title of the character, link to the article, profile and/or character sheet associated
