What functionality is missing? What is unsatisfying with the current situation?

I am requesting building quick edit functionality inside of the Article Editor (https://www.worldanvil.com/world/athena/). I would like it to address the organization options. Example of items that would be most helpful to be editable from this menu (in order of importance):

• Navigation Options
• Position/Weight
• Parent Category & Parent Article
• Previous Article & Next Article
• Prefrence Options
• Setting Article as NSFW
• Setting article as featured
• Listing article in table of contents
• Listing article in world table of contents
• Table of content emphasis

 

How does this feature request address the current situation?

I do site organization from the Articles menu. It is cumbersome to open the entire editor for an article, navigate to the navigations tab, and make organization selections. Organization is also very visual, and the articles tab presents my articles visibly. Most of my ideas for organization happens in this menu, and I would like to execute them from here as well.
Weight, in particular, becomes cumbersome when required to leave the articles' menu to execute changes. I want to arrange my articles so that have order to them. Currently, I have to navigate to article editor and try to keep consistency between the weights I'm using. When managing several articles, I occasionally will overlap weight.
Another issue when leaving this page is I lose my filters. Maybe I have filtered for uncategorized articles, and I've opened several steps into the category tree. Should I go into the editor, when I come back I have to reapply these selections to continue working. Typically I will (ctr + click) to open in a new tab, but occasionally I forget and it ruins flow.

 

What are other uses for this feature request?

Building out a quick edit feature would introduce a reusable module you can use for many other sections of the site. This is the area that stands out currently, but I'm sure there are places a quick edit would be helpful in other places that are showing multiple articles in a single view. Places like this include:

• Player Character Menu
• NPC Menu
• Plots
• etc.

Design work-ups of how the concept would work as described above.

When you click on the article to edit, a new drop down toggle 'Quick Edit'. Here is the button not toggled.

  Since I ran into it before that I needed to open articles for quick preference changes or linear navigation .... yes please.   I actually would prefer this quick editor option over the sidebar, though I do get that the sidebar might be more visible.

  I do agree that article preferences should be added to the side bar.

  Parent category / article and position weight is already right there on the right side. So I don't think this should be duplicated. Adding linear navigation would make sense for me in the sidebar as well. Its quite cumbersome to setup currently.   The preferences could be added as a small collapsed container to the right as well. Would make organizing faster, though not as much needed imo.
