What functionality is missing? What is unsatisfying with the current situation?

My manuscript would look more professional if the first lines of my paragraphs were indented.

How does this feature request address the current situation?

Adding paragraph indents would help my manuscript look more professional, and add legibility for readers.

The Team's Response

Thanks for the suggestion! There is a Paragraph Indent field you can edit when editing the settings of a Manuscript, but it looks like it's not being applied to view mode. This is a feature not working as intended (i.e. a bug), so please report it here for the devs to take a look: https://www.worldanvil.com/udan-tracker/

It also helps me keep certain points separate in the narrative of my thoughts

Thank you for this suggestion. This is a pet peeve. I learned in school to single space my papers then indent first lines of paragraphs with no spaces between paragraphs; my books are formatted the same way. But online (this is across numerous blogging platforms and not just World Anvil), It is single spaced paragraphs with a double space between and no indent. Huh? This has never made sense to me and I'd love to see the change.

Not sure if its a browser issue or not but I notice the same problem with FFN where indentions just don't seem to stick. I normally do my writing on Libre then export but I still add indentions out of sheer force of habit even if it doesn't carry over.

Because of the visual clunkiness of the manuscripts, I often don't do my writing in WA. A cleaner, professional look, standard to book style text formating would be far more appealing for me

YES, please! more conventional word processor functionality in manuscripts please, ESP the tab key! Better paragraph formatting in general would be appreciated, but just having manuscripts accept tab key would be a great start

Widespread option(s) would be nice, as other(s) mentioned.

I'd like this ability in any kind of article.

It would be a nice option to have. I also like indented paragraphs. As far as defaults are concerned, perhaps ideally you could set a default indent level at global, manuscript and section level with the most specific level overriding the others?

As a formatting option I support this, but would prefer it not to be made the default. The function to toggle this on and off would be great though!
