css image background presentation

What functionality is missing? What is unsatisfying with the current situation?

While we are able to add a page background image for all articles, it would be nice to be able to add a background image for individual articles. This would allow variation and make articles look more interesting. I at least have been unable to use the css to add a background image to a article that contains text.

What are other uses for this feature request?

The Team's Response

Thanks for the suggestion! This is currently possible with CSS. We're looking into simplifying and expanding customization options without CSS in a future update. While the priority is "world-wide" customization, we'll consider adding this as a per-article option too.

As mentioned by others, this is already possible with CSS.

While there is a CSS "solution" to this, having a page background selector just below the page banner selector would probably be useful for many.

Every article within WorldAnvil, and category, has a unique ID you can target with CSS. Additionally, tags are also set into the HTML of an article so they can be targeted to affect an entire group of articles. If you need help doing this, feel free to DM me if you use the Discord (Same username).

I basically copy and paste the exact same tedious CSS into each individual article. It would be so much nicer to have it function similarly to an article's header, and just be able to switch it out that easily. Also would be nice to do the exact same for categories!!

Good suggestion. I see a lot of uses to this, to visually group articles together by more than just a header. Love the idea.   You can probably do a lot with CSS, but one of the reason I use World Anvil and not build a site of my own is not to have to bother with CSS (I'm a programmer and I hate CSS).

Although it could be made easier, this is already possible with CSS.
