It's so obvious that I'm surprised it's gone unnoticed for so long, given that this is a platform for designing game content. This template could cover anything from card games to sports.
So the issue here is yeah, a sport or game is a tradition. They are tied to cultures and evolve with them just like traditions. For example ice hockey. Tradition/Ritual may sound broad but that's a good thing because it then encompasses a great deal of things, and this includes sports and games.
I agree that maybe adding a tab or modifying the wording of the prompts in the Tradition template would be more effective than creating a whole new template.
To me, this is just too specific to be a template. I know Tradition/Ritual is incredibly wide, but it functions perfectly well for games and sports. I think that some tweaks to the Tradition/Ritual template to make it clear how to do it more generally might be worth it, or at most dividing Tradition/Ritual into something like "Practices and Games" vs. "Holidays and Rituals." If a specific event of a game (I don't know, your world's version of "Super Bowl XX") is important to you, Military Conflict works beautifully.
Looks like there's a solid basis for making it a Tradition/Ritual, but maybe the terminology is a bit weird? Calling a certain game or practice a 'tradition' when it might be a recent invention or something like a social-media challenge makes me think 'activity' or something more generic may be a better title.
To prove that this is meant to be Ritual from the perspective of the developers, here's a game-prompt that lets you create a Tradition article for answering it: Advent Prompt #22
Use tradition :)
Yeah the tradition template covers this. However I do think it would be neat to have a Creator / Inventor character link in the template and a Rules section for the Tradition / Ritual template. Maybe use the follow up to suggest a few sections / relationships you would like to see for games / sports.
That's what most people use the Tradition/Ritual template for.
