map markers minorannoyance
The Issue
Though it may be something relatively minor i still think it would be nice for map creators to have the option. Currently map markers have the choice to switch between showing a 'popup' and a direct link.
When popup is selected, you will get a mouseover which can give a basic and brief description of the location, however upon clicking it, it seems to bring up an unformatted version of the whole article in an awkward sidebar with the 'view full article' button at the very bottom.
Selecting for a direct link can take you straight to the article, however, you lose the mouseover window with the description and title, which is rather inconvenient.
I'm sure people have found ways to use the popup sidebar in a decent manner, however this isn't how at least I myself want people to navigate through locations on the map. Instead i believe it to be more efficient for a short introductury description to be displayed on the map before being able to click on the marker to gain more information from an actually properly built article.
Proposed Solution
I believe a simple fix will be just making the mouseover a seperate option above the choice between popup and direct link. Hover elements should still work on linked markers, right?
Other Uses
Also i suppose if you wanted you could also have the sidebar with no mousebar popup if that's your preference, if that's how you roll.
The Team's Response
I think that is something we should implement certainly on Hercules, possibly even in the current version, depending on the development timeline.
I am provisionally accepting this even with low support.
