What functionality is missing? What is unsatisfying with the current situation? Right now when you add an event to the timeline, and set up the Eras using the UTD dates correctly, the event is displayed under the timeline with the proper date, not displaying its UTD. However when you click on the event itself, it displays the assigned UTD, instead of the in world date of the event.
How does this feature request address the current situation? I understand this was done because events can exist on multiple timelines, but i believe their should be a toggle, to only display the in era date and not UTD when viewing a event. This would make it much easier for the reader to know when an event takes place for world builders like my self, who mainly use UTD to keep the Era organized but never refer to it in our content. It makes seeing the UTD date on the event very confusing for the readers.
What are other uses for this feature request? It would help. Helps to improve the UI of timelines, keeps the events in them clear, and simple for the readers, and easier to read.
Follow up
Another way this could be implemented, is creating Eras of the World, any timeline used inside of that world would share the same Eras.
The Team's Response
Hi! Thanks for the suggestion. You can already override the displayed date with the "Alternative Display Date" field (under Advanced Options). This might at least cover part of your usecase.
Regarding your suggestion, unfortunately we have to decline it because (as you pointed out) events can exist in multiple timelines and eras with different time systems. In order for the event to show the in-timeline dates for the timelines it's added to, the system would need to load all of the event's timelines before the event page itself is loaded. This would not only slow down the loading, but it would also cause significant database load for larger worlds.
