Option to Temporarily Change to Plato (WYSIWYG) Editor When Editing an Article

What functionality is missing? What is unsatisfying with the current situation?

The Euclid (BBCode) editor is my default editor.  It works great for almost all of the articles that I edit.  The exception is when the article contains a table.  I find that filling out a table using BBCode is tedious and error prone.  Whenever I fill out a table I have to change my default editor to Plato.  This makes filling out the table a breeze.  Unfortunately, since I often bounce around articles on different tabs, it forces those to use Plato as well.  Once I am done with the table I switch back to Euclid.  Many times, I will remember a simple change I need to make on the table.  I either have to struggle and find the cell in the BBCode or go through the process of changing my default editor and then back again.   It would be helpful to have an option/button to change the editor for the article that is being edited.  This way an article containing tables could be easily edited without having to go through the process of changing the default editor back and forth.  The desired editor does not need to be saved as part of the article.  The editor change should be temporary and only apply to the current session.

How does this feature request address the current situation?

This change would provide an easy way to use the most appropriate editor, when editing an article with certain characteristics (i.e. tables), when the default editor is not appropriate, without globally changing the default editor.

The Team's Response

Thanks for the suggestion! We're in the process of redesigning the WYSIWYG editor, which might address the issues you raised here.

There are other instances when this would be useful. I'm currently copying in a bunch of articles and I need both Euclid and Plato to accomplish what I'm trying to do. (I haven't analyzed why Plato's view source doesn't feel helpful to me, so I may be missing something.) Euclid has the power that I need. But Plato is nice for some easier bits.
