At the moment it's only possible for a character to have two biological parents which is limiting for non-dimorphic species.
Adding the option for more biological and adoptive parents would help with the creation of races who require more than one partner for reproduction, races with third (and fourth, fifth etc.) genders, and polyamorous cultures.
It could either be implemented as a drop down menu at the top of the relationships tab which asks the creator to specify number of parents, followed by spawning the selected number of name fields, or as a simple '+' to add more parents of either type.
Thank you for considering this!

Update: Apparently it's already on the roadmap, my bad. Fingers crossed it comes soon.
The Team's Response
Accepted under discussion. Please note that this is not in our roadmap! Our current family trees are based on automatic generation based on the data you input—these will not support more than two parents for technical reasons. However, we have considered the possibility of building a manual family tree system in the future, which would allow for more than two parents. This is, however, far into the future and the current system will not support this.
That said, we'll consider adding some sort of support for multiple parents outside the family tree system to support other types of families.
