Make divine being article template

gods article-types organizing-information

The religion article only is only designed to describe about a religion itself but we should have another article group that allows us to describe and organize gods, deities, and other omnipotent beings. I truly think an article type similar to a character or a country that help explain and explore the history and behavior of an individual god as well as his/her/its power portfolios, alignment, symbols, or even what pantheon it belongs to would make a great addition to the dashboard options.

Follow up

Please reconsider this request. More people by far seem to have an interest or even a need for this article template. I don't get why you wouldn't want to give people more flexibility in how they build their worlds, and this is no more redundant than having separate templates for ethnicities and species.

The Team's Response

There are two ways to handle a divine being. If it is personified you can use the Divine/Diety section under a character, if it is a concept or an abstract you can use the tradition or myth/legend template.

I agree with many of the comments that the existing Character template contains all the necessary prompts and fields for a divine being, but I would also like to see them migrated to a separate template of their own

I find it annoying to have all my gods (even the ones who are barely sentient) have a character profil

Between myth/legend and character, there are already plenty of ways to represent divine beings.

While that is somewhat handled in the divine subsection of character creation, I do feel like there should be a separation between the two, because not all divine beings are characters, they're mythological figures whose primary function in a world or story is to influence the actions of non-divine beings. The idea of them, their influence on the world, and how they're perceived is more important than their psyche or personal motivations. And even those personal motivations contribute more to the religion than the story/world itself, most of the time.

Use Character Template, sometimes your Divine Being IS a character so it would only complicate things.

Like the rest has said, you can just use the Character template. I've used this too, even for fictional deities/unfounded religious and mythological figures.

You can make a diety/god trough your Character Template. The option is already there, with possibility to link it with religion, world, etc... I thought this is good idea at first, but since I found that the option is already there, I have to disagree.

Echoing the others, the character template Divine/Deity template specific prompts covers a wide range of deity specific sections, such as church, realm, classification, domains, artifacts, holy books, symbols, tents, goals and holidays.

Sorry but I Don't see the point. There is everything recquired for omnipotent being on the character template. If it's not the case for you, well... sorry but you need to explain what is missing according to you.

On the character template, there is a subsection for divine beings that does exactly what you are talking about.
