I think the post is about the convenience of doing that right from the list view instead of having to click each article and set it to public/done and so on. I get how this would be a big convenience, if you want to change a lot of articles as it would save clicks.

If you click on the article, you can immediately edit it from the expanded view. I feel like adding these buttons would just clutter the interface unnecessarily

You already have that option if you select the middle button top-right to show expanded posts in the list.
