Welcome to Nerd, an earthlike world 50 light-years from Earth. Thousands of years after Earth was made uninhabitable by humans, the descendants of a small group of volunteer astronauts landed here and discovered the Manna Virus, a symbiont that allowed life to thrive on this new world, giving humanity a chance to start over. Thousands of years and two world wars later, the worst of humanity is still struggling to find new ways to kill itself while the best is struggling to understand the full extent of the Manna's potential.
Meet Hero, a talented dwarven thief who goes by the nom de plume, "Anti-Hero." She and her fellow "Aunties" are on a quest to bring justice to a world that too often sees injustice go unpunished. Her contribution? Stealing rich people's things to finance the group's operations. The problem with being a very public thief, however, is that when anything goes missing, the powerful know right who to look for and where to find you.
When Hero is framed for the theft of a priceless heirloom from a local crime syndicate, she must find the goods before she's turned over to the authorities to face a lifetime of crimes. What she discovers goes far beyond simple theft and could plunge the world into another world war.
Sounds like just the right kind of mission for the Aunties.
