Acidic Gland Implant

Wondrous Item

Rare

Description

This poultice is placed into a long thin metal tube that's inserted into your neck tissues along with a living spore creature that uses the poultice as a blueprint to naturally create more. This particular mixture is potently acidic and grants the body it's within a few interesting mutations.

Charges

This implant has 7 charges. While implanted in your neck, you can expend 1 or more of its charges to perform one of the following features.

The implant regains 1d6 + 1 expended charges daily at dawn. If you expend the implant's last charge, roll a d20. On a 1, the living spore dies and ceases secretion of the poultice; the implant is rendered useless until you complete an Armament Item Roleplay Quest to acquire a new living spore.

Acid Blood

The living spore secretes and injects this poultice formula into your bloodstream. Your blood has become dangerously acidic and, you've noticed, even a drop of it will eat through and corrode whatever it touches.

When you are struck by a melee attack you may use your reaction and expend 1 of the implant's charges; each creature within 5 feet of you must make a DC 15 Dexterity saving throw or take 11 (2d10) acid damage. You cannot use this feature if you have taken fire damage since the end of your last turn.

Optional

If the optional items have been used in its crafting, then your item gains the following feature(s):

Corrosive Strikes

Prerequisite: 4 Units of Viper Thistle

You can expend 1 charge to excrete a temporary acidic substance onto your natural weapons that lasts until the end of your turn. The first time you hit an enemy with a natural weapon attack you can cause the attack to deal an extra 1d6 acid damage.

Blood Thickener

Prerequisite: 3 Units of Kreet Paste

The Kreet Paste in the poultice is a natural blood thickener. That, mixed with acidity of Viper Thistle and Ecire Laurel, makes your blood capable of eating acid. When you take acid damage, you may expend 1 charge to gain resistance to that damage.

Note: This is intended to only work against a single source of damage, whether that's a spell, dragon's breath, or singular attack.

Blood Stick

Prerequisite: 4 Units of Ecire Laurel

When a creature is affected by the Acid Blood feature, you may expend an additional charge to have your blood stick to them. Until someone takes an action to wipe off the acid, the creature takes 5 (1d10) acid damage at the start of each of its turns.

Improved Corrosive Strikes

Prerequisite: All Units

The additional damage granted by Corrosive Strikes increases from 1d6 to 1d10.
