Kokuraiju Transformation

The Kokuraiju inside of you was unwillingly bound to your blood. As such, it will want to break free and wreak havoc whenever it can. You must make a DC 15 Wisdom Save when one of the following situations occur:

  • Whenever you fall to half or below half HP
  • Whenever you fall to a quarter or bellow a quarter of HP
  • Each time you are hit when you have already reached less than 10 HP in that specific combat encounter.
  • Each time you are hit with Jaded weapons or abilities or spells that mimic the effects of Jade, regardless of your current HP.

  • You are to make the saving throw for each situation that occurred. For example, if a spell or attack would reduce you to less than a quarter of your HP you have to make two saves; the first for falling below half HP, and the second for falling below a quarter HP.
    However, each instance need only be saved once, unless the conditions are met again. For example, the single attack that dropped you to less than a quarter means you need to save twice (explained in the previous example). The only time you will need to roll another save for either of those situations is if you regained health that would put you above those HP thresholds. The only exception to this rule is the third situation. Once you have reached less than 10 HP once in that combat encounter, you will need to make a save every time you take damage, regardless of your current HP. This resets once that combat encounter ends.

    Whenever you succeed a save, the DC increases by 1 and the DC stays increased until you fail the the save or finish a long or full rest. Additionally, if you are hit with a Jaded weapon (or spell or ability that mimics Jades effects) and save the DC, it increases by 2 instead of 1.

    How badly you failed the DC determines how far you turned, as stated by the table below:
    Failed the DC by: Kokuraiju Form Duration
    less than 5 Feral Form 1 minute
    less than 10 Chrysalis Form 1 hour
    more than 10 Fully Formed 8 hours
    When transformed, your statblock effectively becomes the statblock of the form you transformed into.

    If you willingly fail a save, your transformation will always be Fully formed. Lastly, If you fall to 0 HP, you automatically fail the save and will transform to the Fully Formed Kokuraiju.

    Targeting Priority

    When transformed, follow this target priority list. If you cant target the highest priority move on to the next. You will always want to kill, and if you know there is something nearby to kill, then you should go there next.
      From greatest to least:
  • Yamami, Tatsuo
  • Ryoma
  • Anyone attacking you
  • civilians or other people you can immediately see
  • anything living
  • wreak havoc on your surroundings
