Keen Smell: the lion has advantage on Wisdom (Perception checks) that rely on smell.   Pounce: if the lion moves at least 20 ft. straight towards a creature and then hits it with a claw attack on the same turn, that target must succeed on a DC 15 Strength saving throw or be knocked prone. If the target is prone, the lion can make one bite attack against it as a bonus action.   Running Leap: with a 10-ft. running start, the lion can jump up to 25 ft.

Actions

Bite: Melee Weapon Attack: +7 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 11 1d8+6 piercing damage.   Claw: Melee Weapon Attack: +7 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 13 2d6+6 slashing damage.

Goldenpelt lions, sometimes called cave lions or dire lions, are a subspecies of lions supposedly born by the goddess Ezrahil and gifted with unnatural size and power. Their pelts shine like sheets of gold and are impenetrable to most mortal weapons. They are about 25% larger than their mundane cousins and are usually solitary. Many tales tell of man-eating goldenpelts that terrorize rural villages. It is unclear if this is a trait shared by all members of the subspecies or a prevalent rumor due to the threat they pose to livestock and mortal communities.

Goldenpelt lions are mostly found in Hakoa, though at one time they were prevalent in both Nioa and Iroa. Today, there are no extant populations in these areas. They prefer slopping hills and open savannah with large amounts of grass from which they can stalk their prey. However, they have also been reported hunting in desert and tropical forests.
