Volatile Presence. Volatile Magma Elementals can only exist within 60ft. of the Lesser Molten Avatar, leaving this range the Volatile Magma Elemental harmlessly dissipates.
Being targeted by an attack, ability, moving into another creatures space or an ally being attacked within 5ft. of the Volatile Magma Elemental, it detonates, Imposing a DC 15 Dexterity Save to all creatures within 5ft. and dealing 3d6 Bludgeon + 2d6 Fire damage upon a failed save and half on a success.


Actions

Volcanic Lash Melee Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 8 (1d8+2) Bludgeon damage plus 7 (2d6) Fire damage.   Molten Shell (Recharge 6). Covering itself in a dense layer of molten rock, the Lesser Magma Avatar gains 30 Temporary HP and +2 AC. at the start of the next Lesser Magma Avatar's Turn, the shell explodes, imposing a DC 15 Dexterity Saving Throw, dealing an amount of fire damage equal to the remaining Temp HP of the shield as Fire damage on a failure and half damage on a successful roll. Temporary HP gained by Molten Shell is lost after dealing damage.


 

Legendary Actions

The Lesser Molten Avatar has 2 legendary actions.

  • 1 Action. The Lesser Molten Avatar summons a Volatile Magma Elemental in a space within 10ft. of the Lesser Molten Avatar an an initiative of 5.
  • 1 Action. The Lesser Molten Avatar uses Molten Shell.
  • 2 Actions. The Lesser Molten Avatar Marks an area within 60ft. to detonate in a molten pillar that covers an area equal to a 15ft wide, 60ft. high cylinder at the start of the Lesser Molten Avatars next turn. Creatures caught within this area must make a Dexterity Saving Throw against a DC of 15 or take 10 Bludgeoning + 4d6 Fire damage upon a fail, creatures that pass this save take half damage instead.

Lair Actions

At an Initiative of 20 (losing ties), the Lesser Molten Avatar may use a Lair Action and may not use the same lair action twice in a row.

  • The next time the Lesser Molten Avatar casts a spell, it gains an additional 2 AC for the rest of the round.
  • The ground cracks, creating a hole that is 5ft. across that opens up to the lake of lava below, this cannot be happen in another creatures space.
  • A Volatile Magma Elemental Spawns in a space within 5ft. of exposed lava. this creature rolls an initiative of 5.

All Molten Avatars make their home on a layer of hardened magma, precariously afloat on a great well of molten rock and metal.

Regional Effects

The presence of a Molten Avatar begins to convert the area into a dry, hot wasteland that if left for long enough will violently erupt into an ever flowing volcano.
