Second Life

A reborn race

You have passed from your first life and through morticistic magic have been reanimated into a second phase of being. While most of your body appears on the cusp of eternal death, you are kept alive by a phylactary-like item which holds your consciousness (usually a mask). As you walk the line between life and death, you benefit from the following features:

  • You count as Undead in addition to any other creature type from your race. You can still benefit from spells that perserve life, that normally don't effect undead: Cure Wounds, Healing Word, Mass Cure Wounds, Mass Healing Word, Spare the Dying.
  • When you take a long rest, you only need 4 hours of sleep. The remaining time you can spend in a motionless state. In this state you appear inert, but you remain conscious.
  • You don't need to breathe.
  • You have advantage on the first death saving throw you make after being knocked unconcious.
