Rift Ripper 1

With Fort Landing back under Creston's control, and Pulminov's great machine nearing completion, it was time to deploy what they called the "Rift Ripper" to the rift near home. Cain, Eve, Mikhail, Sebastien, and Sera responded to the call for help with an escort, alongside two Pact hunters, Wurr and Ulkoda, and the Pulminov mechanic, Danto. After being briefed on their mission by Pulminov's field lead, Amelian Liadon, Eve had the bright idea of using her locket to store the machine for transportation. Given that they had initially planned to haul the enormous machine on wheels, this immediately subverted much of the terrain difficulty along the way.
  After a day and a half of hiking through hills and woodlands to the north-west of Fort Landing, and an encounter with a zombie bear during the night, the party entered a region of the woods where everything was rotting, and nearly all creatures were already afflicted with undeath. The site of the rift itself was surrounded by decaying trees, and many zombified animals were lingering about. The more dangerous threat proved to be the shadows and specter hovering close to the rift, but after a hard-fought strategic battle, the party came out on top.
  Once the Rift Ripper was deployed and the rift's energy leakage stabilized, multiple party members expressed a desire to cleanse the local woods of their rotting affliction. The rest of the day was spent helping Sebastien set up a ward for the area around the Rift Ripper, after which he set fire to the trees, allowing the curse of undeath across the region to burn away through the night. Danto and the Pact hunters stayed behind to safeguard and maintain the Rift Ripper until supplies could be brought out to set up a permanent outpost on the site, while the rest of the party made a quiet trip home through the burnt remains.
