The Kings' Scrolls

The pair of scrolls was a gift, either from the Alarans or the Elves, after the First Great War. What is written on one appears on the other within minutes and there is a spell that can be used to clear the writing so it can be used over and over again. It was given so that the kings of the two human nations could keep in communication with each other. For some reason, the kings use it only for emergencies, trusting normal slower means of communication for their normal correspondence. This is most likely due to the fact that they don't understand the magic that makes the scrolls work so in their minds it is a rare and "dangerous" thing to be respected and used sparingly. In truth, they could use it for everything and cause no harm. This particular set was spelled so it can only be used by the current king/queen of either kingdom or their heir.   When Ohanzee takes control of the Flying Kingdom, Tritaton's scroll is smuggled out and goes with Sepherym. Later, Queen Arissa of Tantaria steals her husband's scroll and gives it to Mery when Mery leaves East Court. She is beheaded for this as her husband brands it an act of treason. Mery and Sephy use the scrolls to coordinate their war efforts as much as possible (since they are both heirs to the Zoedavian throne they can both use either scroll). They figure out Lars and Kale are dead when Erjon Edain is able to open Mery's scroll (he has become the heir to the Tantarian throne). The scrolls are returned to their respective castles after Ohanzee's war is ended.
