Session 36: Terminal Tremors

General Summary

The cave of Tervus, the great dragon, was coming down around them. The earth below them tried to shake them free of their balance. Like the rocks coming from the roof of the cave, all of the Dragoons minus Stanwick fell to the ground with a loud thud. Still feeling drained from their encounter just minutes before, the Dragoons gathered themselves and their wits to move forward.   The cave roared with the cacophony of chaos, ripping the earth apart. A fissure tore apart the ground before them, adding further obstacles in their scramble to escape the impending death from the collapsing hallowed ground.   Yet again the earth violently shook, throwing the Dragoons to the ground and forced more fissures to open up. As the rocks fell to the ground, Gregg jumped into the path of a rock the size of a draft horse which smashed down upon him. His Dragon Stone quickly flashed with power, forcing him to step backwards just in time to avoid an untimely demise.   Trent took the skies upon the wings of an owl, Stanwick became mist and floated, Gregg grew giant fiery wings, and Rath ran his otaku butt through the cave. Gregg looked back and noticed that Rath was not there. As he went to aid him, a mammoth rock pinned him to the ground. Using rather underdeveloped muscles, Rath pushed Gregg forward out of the new rock formation.   Trent was hit by a rock, forcing him to the ground. He came out of his owl form and quickly turned into a spider to scurry away.   Stanwick continued to float.   Rath was pinned again and Gregg reached back for him. As Gregg and Rath struggled to get free of the rock formation, Bud Towers, Stone of Our Time, began to glow green and a powerful force came out of him, creating a zone of safety. Around the Dragoons, the cave came down around them. Time passed, as did the Dragoons... into unconsciousness.   The Dragoons slowly began to waken. Before them stood a massive beastman with a glaive. Rath, Trent and Bud recognized Zeke, with his Pegasus. They were in a camp site, warm with a fire Zeke was using to cook stew.   Rath and Stanwick began telling Zeke of what happened with Vaylin and Tervus. Zeke listened in disbelief, as Vaylin was apparently trying to ascend to godhood in order to...save the world from nebulous “darkness”, for which he needed Tervus’ power to ascend. Eva, the cleric of Lumina some of the Dragoons knew from home, was also important to his plan for reasons unknown...   Zeke also noted that Bud was holding a glowing green crystal (not his Dragon Stone) when Zeke rescued the party. Tossing it to Bud, he said that it could be important so they might want to take time to learn about it as they rest. Just then, in response to the strange crystal, Pebbles began to evolve! Growing bigger, Pebbles sprouted legs and arms with twigs and moss covering him. Bud took time to study his new crystal and understand how it could be of use. Much to their amazement, this magic item could be used to teleport to various places, such as the Earth Dragon Cave, and also the Fire Dragon Cave (once, without risk of being off course). Further, more locations closely tied to the Goddess can be stored if Bud activates the crystal in those places ahead of time. And so, the Dragoons took time to consider their actions before moving onward to their destination, to the cave of Blasnir.
