Session 15: Over the River and Through the Woods

General Summary

After the decidedly one-sided defeat of the sloshing Sahuagin, the party was quick to offer assistance to the brutalized beastman, Joppo, who was manning the Silver Peak Way Station. The horses, who had just witnessed a massive explosion and a crab invasion, began to buck and attempted to break free. Trent, who has spent time as a horse, reached out his hand and a calming wave overcame one of the horses. Bud Towers, the Hero of Our Time, brought forth his own inner beast and slowly talked the other horse down from its frenzy. Once the horses were submissive, the party began the after-slaughter ritual of rapidly rolling the corpses. Rath decided to take this time to write about the adventure in his book. Blu used his Eye to scan the area for magic, and found a Shark Tooth Necklace that had some magical properties (we also found 1,400 copper pieces). Bud Towers, the Hero of Our Time, decided to clean the slaughtered Sahaugin and give them a relatively respectable burial.   Joppo offered Percival, a goat, to help us. Percival turned into a silver goat figurine. Trent would like it known that he is very sensitive about his curse and is sneaking sweet, wet water when no one is looking. Amazingly he only urinates when he is reminded that he drinks enough to drown a small child. Continuing on across the bridge, which was sturdy and a mile long, the stretched for a couple miles before meeting the ocean. Upon reaching the other end, there was suddenly a strange sense of seriousness on the scene. Blu began to mention it when the horse’s hoof was hung up on a trip wire. The horse fell and the party fell forward. A group of gnarly gnolls (regular gnolls) ganged up on the recently routed group. During the ensuing battle, Blu the Beneficent, had a massive arrow launched towards him. Embodying the element of his dragon, his body liquified and became fluid. Just before the arrow entirely passed through, Blu solidified, catching the arrow in his bone and flesh. After a bloody battle, the gallant group found that their charge, Katrin the Prefect, was wounded and bleeding badly. Blu (balls) began bantering with Katrin to see if she had any interest in any furtherance in their relationship. Katrin was healed and the party progressed. Bud Towers, the Hero of Our Time, began the post combat ritual of rolling the battered bodies of baddies. Through the power of nature, Trent began speaking with the captured Giant Hyena. Sadly, Trent was unsuccessful in talking to the hyena.   After continuing on the road there were terrible tremors, turning the topsoil topsy-turvy. A land shark erupted from the earth and made for the horse pulling the front cart. Bud Towers, the Hero of Our Time, ran forth, grappling the creature. Then, Bud Towers, after our exquisite enlightened team of earnest and energetic eviscerators eradicated enemies enshrouded eternally in evil, proceeded to procure part and parcel the pieces of the creature. After summarily rolling the body with such authority that the gods intervened to create booty that no one would have expected from such a creature (120 gp). Therein they found a bullet carapace that could be used to make a shield.   Continuing on, the party came across what seemed to be a fight scene. Rath tried to deduce useful information from the chaos, but did not determine anything of tremendous use (just that there were medium and small creature, splintered wood, and oil-soaked grass - path lead to and from a nearby hill with a forest at the top). Finally, the group came upon The Transfer Spring. The Spring has a raised platform with shimmering water inside. There is a guard there of some sort and an old man with crazy hair and mustache, ancient in his years. He seemed to be worried about something as the group drew near. Vendra and Katrin walked up to the water with the team. Hobb walked up and stated that the group could not go forth into the city without proper paperwork, as these are dangerous times with brazen monsters and opportunistic bandits. He also stated there was a man, a mage, or someone, going around calling himself “The Ascendant”, rumored to be everything from a Dark One, to a cultist, to rogue mage, to powerful monster. He wears a mask and seems to be gathering a following. Hobb said to go to the Great Shrine of Lumina and apply there, and if the Applicant has any magical potential, they can be admitted (though they must pass through the Caverns of Potential before gaining status as a member of the Magic Academy. After a pathetic attempt to talk Vendra and Katrin to come and party, the group went to the Inn to rest. They opened the door and met the proprietor, Atum Pohmak. The young heroes procured their lodgings and a well-deserved meal before retiring for the night…
