Session 10: Land (You) Ho!

General Summary

After a long and perilous ocean adventure, the party arrived at their destination. There were numerous ships, colorful buildings, and people littering the shoreline. After the Sand Piper was moored, the party disembarked and looked towards the land of their destiny, where they were hoping to find clues as to where they would find Blasnir, the Dragon of Fire.   Vendra, future wife of Rath, explained that this was the largest port cities on the land and of the known world. The magic academy is a day and a half ride away. The City of Marabin is governed by a retired pirate, Pellton Dunkirk. The incredibly busy streets had a variety of humans and beast men. Paving stones, running water, street torches, and many more marvels filled Bud Towers with sheer amazement. Vendra left to go to Dark Thorn Alley for shopping. She asked us to escort her to the academy later on. Blu asked his sister if there was a gem or diamond market that we could sell something.   Organizing what we need to do:
  • 1. Take Vendra to the academy
  • 2. Help Dingus sell diamond
  • a. Contact carpenter’s guild to find someone to help us sell the diamond
  • b. Have them make banner
  • 3. Create banner
  • 4. Find Blasnir
  • a. Go to Lumina temple
  • 5. Find a place to sleep
We decide to stay as a group and head to the temple with our letter from the previous priest. We did not know where the temple was, so Trent asked a seagull…literally. After spending some bread, the seagull brought us to the merchant’s ward. We passed Main Street and headed to the craftsman district, where the jeweler resides. We entered the common and saw the statue of Lumina, with the temple laying beyond that. Bud walked up to the statute and said a quick prayer to Lumina. We accidentally attempted to activate the statute. His prayer was so awe-inspiring and moving that the statue glowed a soft, gentle green and Bud felt a rush of energy, as if he had just awoken from a restful dream.   The party headed into the temple. As all things here are compared to our home, the temple was massive, impressive, expensive, and filled with people. Our meager temple only had 2 acolytes and 1 priest. This one has more clergy members than our home had parishioners. At the front of the church was an elderly man in religious garb. Bud walked up to the elderly man, who stated his is Loris Elient, the Light Father. Bud asked to speak in confidence, and he agreed. We went to a back room. We gave him the letter stating who we are. Rath explained where we came from and then transformed before him. Loris asked to touch Earthheart and Bud asked his faithful companion to identify who the party is and attest to their authenticity. Earthheart glowed while being touched and Loris went into a deep mediation. After believing who we were, he stated he could not help us find Blasnir, but that we should speak to the governor who was once an adventurer. Loris told us there is a job board that adventuring groups can take up. He also recommended the local jeweler as a trustworthy person to bring our valuable gems to so we could start a business with Dingus, who likes rocks. He would like to start his own jewelry shop. We left the Light Father and headed to the jeweler.   The jeweler shop had a sign stating Vindross’s Jewelry Shop. It is two levels with gemstones providing light to the inside. Bud pushed Dingus to the guy behind the counter. They entered negotiations and Dingus was seemingly decent at haggling, which is surprising that he is good at anything. Blu tried to help out with the negotiations, but failed to add anything of value to the conversation. While this was happening, Bud decided to head off and try to find the carpenters guild to establish communication. He spoke to every single NPC he could find to see their one line of text. He also went to the job board and read:
  • 1. Roads south is closed because of bandits
  • 2. Clearing out bandits
  • 3. Clearing out monsters
  • 4. Escort quests
  • 5. Investigation quests
As Bud continued on his solo adventure, Trent got bored and went looking for a tree in the park district. He and Bud joined forces and Trent found a tree and tried to make a tree sprout, forgot he can’t do that, and instead strangled the tree to death with entangle. Trent became depressed and prayed to Lumina, which did nothing. Bud and Trent then went to the guild and ordered armbands and a banner for everyone. Bud then found individual to help make a building for Dingus to establish his new business.   Back with Dingus. After a spirited conversation, Dingus welcomed back Trent and Bud with his results of 20,000 gold. After 10 minutes the owner did not return. Bud asked an assistant to help find the owner and was brought to the back room and it was found empty. After entering his mind palace, Rath grabbed a book from the bookshelf and a secret passage opened. Traveling down the secret book place, the party entered a multi-leveled room. It was dark and damp…we were in a sewer…a fucking sewer. There was a guard and Bud called out to him. After asking if he had seen Vindross…who is an asshole by all accounts…the guard says he had never seen him. There was a large mechanical drawbridge that was up. On the other side of the drawbridge is a bunch of poisonous snakes which block is way back. Without hesitation the adventurers sprung into action to rescue the lost guard. The party overestimated the strength of the poor snakes (which were actually venomous) and proceeded to massacre them. After the snakes dies and were devoured the party began looking for the tracks of (Lex Luther) Vindross. A chest was found and it was determined that Trent should open it. He attempted to kick it open and failed miserably. Bud tried to open it…and failed. Rath pulled out his trusty, rusty crowbar and Bud cracked open the chest. There was a rock… another dumb rock. While Blu cursed the rock Trent began making out with his new found companion. Blu detected magic and found it to be magical. A switch was also found near the treasure chest and Blu activated it. A loud clunk echoed through the sewers and the party looked around to find the scoundrel (Lex Luther) Vindross.   Heading down some stairs they found another chest, most likely trapped. Bud tried to open it, but failed…again. The inevitable trap fired out an arrow towards the monstrous Bud and it barely grazed him. The poison from the arrow caused Bud to violently jerk back and forth in tremendous pain. After shaking it off, Bud took his time to open the chest. Inside he found a vial with green goo inside. Trent determined this vial was the anti-toxin that Bud needed to survive the poison. But Bud was so robust with life that he shook of the poison all by himself. Now we have green goo. Continuing to follow the footprints, there was a junction where one side was a bridge up and the other was a path. Going down the path a switch was there, begging to be pulled. Once pulled there was two clunks, one ahead, one behind. We went back to the chest and Rath grabbed it. As it was being opened wisps of light attacked the party. As usual, Bud was the only one to be hurt and he didn’t even notice. The team got balls deep in the wisps, ending their existence. Bud opened the chest to find….tons of silver (500 in total).
