Race: Slugg

Basic Information

Anatomy

Sluggs stand roughly 3 feet tall at the shoulders, though a Sluggs body is fairly elastic and may stand about 5 feet tall if it decided to stand up straight. They resemble hunched over, giant green worms with arms. Their legs are short and squat and they seem to waddle around with great discomfort. Though they may seem to be very much at a disadvantage on their feet, a Slugg is stunningly agile and quick, using its long powerful arms to gallop at incredible speeds. Their size is also quite deceiving as they are also astonishingly resilient; their skin is thick and rubbery and glistens with perspiration. Their color ranges from dark brown to bright green and every color in between.   They are completely faceless; no mouths, no nose, no ears and only tiny bead like eyes. They communicate through a series of clicks, chirps and growls which emanate from their stomachs, or what would be called stomachs if they had one. They eat through their skin by either pouring liquid over themselves or smashing a fruit over their heads and soaking up the juice. Sluggs reproduce through self replication, creating an approximate duplicate of itself, though most likely with a much different personality. Sluggs have terrible fashion sense. They will haphazardly adorn themselves with whatever happens to be laying around. To other Sluggs, this is entirely acceptable behavior. It is not uncommon to see a Slugg waltzing down the street wearing a shoe on his head and his feet wrapped in plastic bags.   Sluggish Culture revolves around a communal understanding with one another. They freely share their spoils with their fellow brothers and whomever is in need will not stay that way for long. Sluggs try very hard to share this mentality with the other races of Zerth, though rarely have they ever succeeded. Sluggs are not commonly found outside of the jungles of Katarri and the surrounding grasslands where they make their home. They have trouble with the dry climates and tend to wither without proper hydration. For this reason, the Sluggs have taken to wearing PESS packs wherever they go, just in case they find themselves alone in the sand. When outside of their jungles and grasslands, the Sluggs have a rough time trying to fit in. Most other races mock them as some kind of joke of the natural order. Sluggs on the other hand seem to be incapable of understanding judgment and cruelty and will often laugh along as they are being berated and accosted.   The Sluggs have no real social order other than perfect equality for all. It is not a difficult thing to do considering they are all of the understanding that not one of them is really any different than another. Slugg on Slugg cruelty is nearly an impossibility as they could no more hurt another Slugg than they could hurt themselves, though they relish in playing pranks on each other.   When in a group setting with other creatures, Sluggs are seen as a sign of good luck, despite their awkwardness. A Slugg will in every possible case, put another creature above himself. If someone has to wade into a shower of bullets, the Slugg will happily volunteer without hesitation. For this reason, Sluggs are commonly known to hang around mining operations and exploration parties, though they have no use for the money. In fact, it is well understood that if a Slugg is along for the ride, you can be rest assured your pay will include what he has decided to give up.   Now, on very rare occasions will a Slugg decide to abandon his heritage. For reasons unknown, possibly even to the Slugg, one will sometimes leave his peaceful life behind and go out in search for something very different. If and when he returns, he is never treated any differently among his brothers. For more on this phenomenon, see Sgish Variant at the bottom of the page. When threatened by an intruding force, Sluggs have been known to respond with deadly, vicious attacks. It is generally wise to announce your intentions before entering into Sluggish territory, though it is highly uncommon for a Slugg to attack unprovoked, no mater the circumstances.
