Race: Morouni

Basic Information

Anatomy

Morouni stand between 3 and 6 feet tall and are covered with short bristly hair. Their physiology varies greatly, but in general, they have upturned noses and large ears. They are physically powerful and take great pride in showing off in front of other Morouni. Even the smallest Morouni is capable of lifting several times their own weight comfortably.   Morouni are a stern, judgmental race who will not hesitate to put others down whenever they see fit. They are outspoken and hot tempered, with little patience for mistakes. Though usually well intentioned, their gruff attitudes tend to drive away newcomers who are not accustomed to their strict standards of living. Towards other Morouni, they are particularly strict. Public punishment is the norm for a fellow Morouni caught being anything other than traditional.   For Morouni living outside the standard box, they carry the same vigilance, though outwardly directed towards other races. Though seeming to be marginally toxic in their attitudes, Morouni make excellent companions, as they are fiercely loyal and always willing to lend a hand, though always looking for an opportunity to point out faults. They are gruff and easily angered, and rarely run from a fight. Their natural mechanical aptitude makes them right at home in the highly diverse technological smorgasbord that is Zerth.   Morouni society is highly focused around family, with the females at the top. The standard Morouni family consists of multiple generations, from Great Great Grandmatron down to Micro-Nephew three times removed. It is not uncommon to find two dozen Morouni living comfortably in a small apartment. The mothers of the household rarely leave the comfort of home, spending most of the day preparing food for the family, which is, oddly, almost always Human dishes, which they have discovered a particular fondness for. They are the providers of the family and are depended upon to keep family ties together.   Traditional Morouni cuisine is bereft of any character or taste, therefore they have clung to the rich and diverse dishes of Human culture. The Morouni's work is his life. A single Morouni is capable of working many many long hours at a time without batting an eyelash, and taking the work very seriously. The biggest insult to a Morouni is to disrespect his craft. Many family rivalries have come to bitter blows over competition in business. It is generally understood that if a Morouni owns a mechanic shop in town, no one else does. They are fiercely competitive and highly skilled in the art of sabotage. In Morouni culture, competition in business is not seen as a benefit to the customer, but as a straight up call to war. Areas with high populations of Morouni tend to be less wealthy for this reason.
