Anterak Mountains
The Anterak Mountains are surrounded by a dominantly coniferous forest called the Anterak Woods. Once ascending the mountains itself, the conifers rapidly start to thin out. The, once tall, evergreens are reduced to slender chest-high sapplings, unable to get sufficient root in the hard, rocky ground. Lush greens of the forests turn into browns, yellows, and reds. Moss and lichen becoming the most bountiful plantlife. Wildlife, while still present, is much more sparse, consisting mostly of bugs and rodents. The wind, cold and dry, whistles as it swirls between the jagged cliff rocks. The peaks of most of the mountains are capped with a blanket of snow. The areas not covered in snow are coated in scree, small, loose, rock chips.
Fauna & Flora
In the lower reaches of the mountain, pine, spruce, and fir trees are highly abundant, stretching out into the Anterak Woods. Scattered about the ground are found resilient ferns, shrubs, grasses, and mosses that can survive the high soil acidity caused by the conifers.
Higher up the mountain, smaller shrubs, mosses, and lichen grow along rocks and cracks in the hard, rocky ground. As the conifers become smaller and more sparse, low growing bush-like trees become more prominent, though still sparsely scattered.
Widlife
The lower areas of the Anterak Mountains are teeming with birds, wolves, bears, amphibians, rodents, deer, and much more. Higher up the mountain, most of the larger animals no longer reside, though wild cats, rams, birds, and rodents are still very present.Settlements
Within the Anterak Mountains, there are 3 major Dwarven settlements, Stoneforge, Daagnhir, and Ironstoke. Tribes of Kobolds, dominantly red and blue scaled, goblins, and bugbears have been seen within the mountain. There are a few nomadic gnoll tribes that also roam across the mountains, following their food sources.Natural Resources
