Nausikaa

Nausikaa is a strange land full of ancient ruins and secrets buried beneath the sands. The residents are primarily Elven, ancient beings who have witnessed more of Zekaron than most. The towns and fortresses outside of the desert see the most traffic from foreign visitors. Not only is the capital city hard to read, having been built in an oasis in the middle of the Xauroll desert, but it is also forbidden to anyone without a direct invitation from the Council of Magi. The Council only lets those who prove to be wise and knowledgable, or exceptionally talented in the ways of magic. It seems as though those who entered the city are sworn to secrecy as no one truly knows what lies beyond their walls.
The surrounding towns function independantly of the council. They have their own local governments and do not tend to experience much trouble from the rest of Zekaron as they are too out of the way to bother with for the most part. The people of Nausikaa are condescending towards the younger races. They do not believe the shorter lived species of Zekaron capable of reaching the same heights that Nausikaa has. This arrogance alone keeps most visitors away.
The religion of Nausikaa seems strange to most of the rest of the world. Instead of the focus being on pleasing one or more greater powers, it is on self perfection. They believe that through the perfection of the mind through knowledge, the perfection of the body through strength, or the perfection of the soul through magic they can ascend to the level of a higher power themselves. Why should they worship something foreign if they themselves can obtain so called god-hood.

Geography

Nausikaa is a peninsula in the south of Xauroll, mostly covered by a large desert. Within the desert resides a lush oasis. The west is cut off from the rest of Xauroll by a large mountain range. The region is not entirely barren, a small forest surrounds a cluster of mountains in the north east, and some sparse grasslands grow near the coast line.

Natural Resources

Outside of the desert, a few farms bring in enough food to supply Nausikaa's sparse population. The forests surrounding the small cluster of mountains yield what wood is necessary to build structures and ships for the residents. Within the Xauroll desert the oasis provides water and fertile lands for the capital city. The residents also claim that the oasis is a font of magic, but outsiders doubt the existance of such a thing, and Nausikaa's council of Magi have monopolized it, if it is, in fact, real.
