Inker

Inkers are illicit or clandestine printers primarily located within the Keel-stone islands. If one knows the right people, inkers can be found in almost any city. The inkers have existed since the advent of the E.P.G. and specialize in forged documents, though they are primarily known for their widespread propaganda. This propaganda is usually targeted at printers and the E.P.G. as a whole but is sometimes used to target political figures and nobles.   In the Keel-stone islands, as with many things, Inkers are not technically illegal. Though there is some claim that the Keel-stone islands fall within the rule of the Hound's Alliance, this claim is still debated. It is only within regions that submit to the E.P.G. that these shops are considered illegal. This does not mean however that one could get something "printed" within the islands and then bring those things to the mainland, as most locations maintain laws against the inker prints and paraphernalia.   Inkers within the islands are unlike the printers found throughout the rest of Eskarina. These inkers are of varying sizes, from the standard note size used throughout the other regions to large scale inkers that can produce posters of text. There is rumors of an inker that can even be used to produce entire books.   Despite the diverse nature of these inkers the difficulty for these shops is attaining sufficient amounts of quality paper. This lack of supplies can drive up prices or make for obvious fakes. There have been, however, several substitutes attempted for use in inkers. Those substitutes have produce some unique qualities in product, from flame resistance to water resistance. These materials are usually very difficult to produce inked product from however. With the cheaper and lesser quality products it is easier for those within the islands to publish books and other written works. These products can be as prized as some of the other treasures traded by the pirates of the islands and have even been seen in the collections of some mainland nobles.
