Aaron's post

Named after one of the lost miners of Zannie's ford who sacrificed himself so that others could escape the collapse, Aaron's post is the newest base camp for the mine that serves Zannie's ford. Most of those who work the mine live full time in the camp as it is more than a days travel to or from the city. The mine primarily concerns itself with gold, but as the region is owned by the lords the locals receive little of the value from it. This is not to say that the miners are not justly compensated only that the value gained from the mine vastly outweighs it.   The camp is made up of several large tents used as communal housing. Dozens of tiered bunkbeds are arranged neatly within these tents, each with a chest in front of and behind them for peoples day to day items. At the entrance of the mine there is a large equipment building made of timbers for picks, lanterns, and similar items. This is located opposite the ore storehouse which is similarly crafted from local timbers. The ore can be easily transferred onto carts via a dug out section behind the building. The storehouse also contains a living facility for the sight overseer. This is supposedly to prevent theft but no Hook has been caught steeling from the mines since their discovery.   The residents workers are given extended holidays during festival times. These times are also used as an excuse to do thorough repairs and resource replenishments, as most will pay a little extra to ride in a cart sooner than take the trail by foot. This helps offset the cost of transportation of equipment for the mine. The mass influx of workers within the city also provides a seasonal boost to the local economy. During this time many higher priced fabrics and large quantities of luxury goods are purchased by miners who have had little to spend their wages on. Those same miners however can often cause a bit of a ruckus in the Gilded Down, as otherwise dry workers drink away their loneliness and celebrate or flaunt their income. It is seldom the miners with families in the city who act this way though, since word spreads through the small city faster than hangovers fade and not many wish to face an shouting relative while their head still aches.
