Norfield

The largest city in all of Dalor, Norfield is a bustling city, and a hub for many different peoples.

Demographics

Norfield is the most diverse city in Dalor. Humans make up the largest group, but other races can be found here as well. Dwarves, Half-Orcs, Goliaths, Elves, Halflings, even some Dragonborn can be found here. Wealth classes are equally diverse, and entrepreneurs often end up on top.

Government

Norfield is run by King Noram , who is advised by Keeper Darutch, an archlich. King Noram governs over the city, and the only person he takes serious council from is Keeper Darutch. there is a taxation of the populous, but it is nothing out of the usual. Necromancy outside of the work of Keeper Darutch is illegal, and a highly punishable offense.

Defences

A very impressive wall surrounds the city, and due to the population and with the help of the spirits, Norfield is the most guarded city in the world. Keeper Darutch, in his long life, has created many powerful instruments of war.

Industry & Trade

Their main export is their cash crops like corn, wheat, potatoes, etc. They also export lumber from the Arvon Woodland. There is also lots of trade within the city, and the Atherium Market is hub for many businesses.

Infrastructure

The walls of Norfield have been enchanted with one of the largest arcane runes in recorded history. This rune allows the spirits brought back by necromancy permanently, until they are destroyed, or choose to move on to the afterlife. This rune also allows the spirits to have physical impact in the world around them. they can lift objects and make contact with the living as if they were still corporeal. Smaller versions of these runes can be purchased and brought with a spirit outside of the city.

Assets

There are hundreds of stores here in Norfield, and almost anything you can think of can be found here. They are known for their lumber, crop, and livestock, as farms surround the city for miles around.

Guilds and Factions

The Atherium Collective is a group of business owners that ensure the market functions and runs smoothly. The Ascended Sentinels are a faction of King Noram's military. The Sovereigns are a mysterious organization that is believed to be based out of Norfield. The Emerald Watch travels across Dalor to hunt monsters and dangerous creatures.

Architecture

Norfield is not necessarily famous for it's architecture, but it is still more than functional. The architecture is similar to classic medieval buildings with the wood frames and plaster walls.

Geography

Norfield is located in The Shimmering Plains, and is sorrounded by miles of farmland. The Fallworth River runs through the town, and is very important for transportation and trade.

Natural Resources

Norfield is the largest source of cattle and cash crop in Dalor, they also make full use of the nearby forests and The Fallworth River.
