Dalar'kha
Dalar'kha are medium sized mammals in the Dry Reef region on Talerin. They have a history of future-telling, and are kept as pets by many rich Ukari People.
Basic Information
Anatomy
Dalar'kha have a slim body, with naturally visible ribs. Their torso is the roundest part, while their back area is rather thin. Their four legs are long and spindly, ending in wide feet to help them stay on the sands and not sink. Their tails are long and thin, one can feel the tail bones very easily as their fur is not thick or long. Their necks are long, their heads very round. Their ears are long and triangular, with small tufts of black fur on the tips. Their noses are round, pink and wet, and their whiskers are short.
Genetics and Reproduction
Dalar'kha breed during the spring months, in the breeding season which takes place during At-a'o and early Mekwe'ri. Females stay inside small caves while they are pregnant, giving birth to a litter of 6-7 after a gestation period of about 6 months.
Growth Rate & Stages
Babies are usually very adventurous, and are constantly trying to escape the cave, much to the mother's dismay. The babies grow at a fast rate because they are a prey to quite a few creatures in the Dry Reef, especially Acid Bellows. As they grow, their psychic abilities strengthen, and they adventure less to lessen the risk of being eaten as their black fur makes them stand out considerably.
Ecology and Habitats
Dalar'kha live in the Dry Reef region of Talerin. They live in caves formed from the dried coral reef. They are primarily nocturnal, sleeping during the day and staying awake at night, usually hunting solitarily.
Dietary Needs and Habits
Dalar'kha are carnivorous, they prey on small mammals, birds, reptiles, invertebrates, anything that is small enough for them to kill. Usually their main prey are scuttlings, but if there aren't enough around then they will move on to other species. They have commonly been seen preying on flower beetles, nimbly climbing up cacti to catch the critters.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities
Dalar'kha are valued for their psychic powers. These mammals are able to predict the near future, and are able to sense danger at a level unbeknownst to any other creature on the planet. When the animal senses danger, their tails will shoot up, and the tip will point like a compass directly at the location of the impending doom. Many people in the inner sector of Tak'are have these as pets, to protect themselves from the many dangers around.
