Creation of Yolarel

This legend sets out the story of the Age of Myth as purported by followers of the Old Gods. It tells of how the world and its inhabitants were created and how the Forgotten War and the Banishment came to be.

Summary

Long ago, there were only the Old Gods. They floated outside of all the planes, and squabbled amongst each other. Then, Siduran had an idea, and he created soil. Sienar and Thaune both took some soil and created greenery. Enthar took some greenery and made beasts. And so it went until all the good gods had contributed their skills to the new word, called Yolarel.   But something was missing from this world. Only Ba knew what it was. And she made the elves first, to ever carry on her magical lineage, and the humans second, at the request of Hyaos and Lyrus. Siduran helped her make the dwarves, and Thaune aided in the creation of halflings. So Yolarel was filled with good things.   But the gods who had not helped make the world, like Daghor, Nuznir, Qhyuna, Shebris and Vecna, saw its beauty and were jealous. They schemed together to defeat the new world, and created fiends and aberrations and other horrors to terrorise its inhabitants. For this, the good gods decided to cast them out of the pantheon of Old Gods. Thus ensued a centuries-long war called the Forgotten War that is not remembered by any race on Yolarel save the elves. Each of the Traitor Gods, as they then became known, was locked in a different plane, though none but the Old Gods know now which plane was the prison of which Traitor. This event was called the Banishment by the peoples of Yolarel, and they were gladder for it. So began the Golden Age, and so ended the Age of Myth.
