YGGDRASIL

Yggdrasil is the tree which holds the nine worlds in its branches. Above the highest branches are the heavens in which the gods reside and rule upon lesser beings. At the roots of the trees are the demons who seek to poison it and bring the gods crashing down. Mortal beings live on the seven continents that are held aloft by Yggdrasil, as well as the mysterious realms which float through the abyss on rafts of ultra-bouyant Lych-Stone. Once the only pathway between the seven mortal worlds were the branches of the colossal world-tree, but new technology discovered in recent years has led to human beings creating ships capable of sailing out into the abyss, held aloft by chunks of Lych-stone and propelled by the powerful winds that sweep through the cosmic aether. The seven worlds are now being unified into a single Arbolal system. While the kingdoms of elves, humans and dwarves have entered into an uneasy peace, the humans have begun to plunder Jotunheim and subjugate its people. While at first the giants, orcs and other beings that inhabit Jotunheim were too fragmented to put up strong resistance, the newly formed Mapuche Confederacy has recently begun to turn the tide against the otherworldly invaders.
