(I think I’ll stick with this format for the rest of my journals)   Dear Mom Well, we might of f██ked up……we killed some noblemen in the pursuit of rescuing Rozalyn Turner. The aftermath was a group of armed men etc coming down to arrest Dagos. No matter how much evidence, documentation etc. we had they wouldn’t listen. Decius who was with them tried to take a rational and conservative approach but any attempts to negotiate were interrupted by a screaming angry elf. It didn’t help that we spent two hours trying to discuss what we could possibly do to get out of the situation. All and all, rational minds prevailed (I pat myself on my back though difficult in full plate.) Says a lot about our group when I’m the most reasonable person in the room. Dagos made a public “apology” and we coughed up 1500 gold as recompense. We then decided to return to Malo.   Many things are afoot right now. Hobgoblins are rampant in the countryside, cannibalistic dwarves off the coast, vampires getting married, ladies on griffins and much more.   At any rate I’m researching a “Xanax” spell for Oisin the next time we get in any similar situations.   No leads on my Father's murder.       Love Verxy

Personal notes

t The Paladin taking the Oath of Vengeance is designed to be a warrior who supposedly can keep his foes from getting away. I have Misty Step, Hold Person, Hunter's Mark and will eventually have Haste and other spells. But I can't seem to actually keep our foe from escaping. Having a higher dexterity would be helpful but moot at this point. Strategic changes are necessary.   d After all the events in the catacombs and the sex chambers we captured one prisoner. I plan on using Zone of Truth on him to get more information about the identities of the locals and others so we can pursue this further. 1d6+4

Back in the Habit

(Trying to get back into the habit of writing a journal….)   Now the Verxatitus has taken a different oath, the Oath of Vengeance, which seems apropos considering his father was murdered, I think it might be time to pursue those that killed him in the Temple of Consuel. Maybe we clean up after our rescue or otherwise of Rozalyn Turner and pursue it?   About Rozalyn; in last weeks story we returned from the far reaches of the goblin fort to Rennes. We immediately were caught up in the intrigue of a lost girl or girls. Kobolds appeared to blame but as we dug deeper it appeared to be something more sinister. We interviewed the head Kobold himself koto Crag-Claw and he offered a reward to clear the accusation of wickedness. Kwarrel the Kobold quickly led us to an entrance to the catacombs beneath the city where our quest began. After fighting undead spider zombies, spiders and empty armor we came face to face with a woman and her undead consort. We quickly dispatched him as the woman fled through the back wall. She suspiciously resembled the description of our missing Rozalyn but you’ll have to stay tuned for next week to find out.   Verx

Verx's going dark

It would appear I've been very remiss on the use of a Paladin's abilities. I won't go into it but studying up this week I've missed a lot and will try to make up for it in future battles. My "Oath" now is the Oath of Vengeance. My alignment: chaotic-good will remain the same.   Paladin: Oath of Vengeance The Oath of Vengeance is a solemn commitment to punish those who have committed a grievous sin. When evil forces slaughter helpless villagers, when an entire people turns against the will of the gods, when a thieves' guild grows too violent and powerful, when a dragon rampages through the countryside – at times like these, paladins arise and swear an Oath of Vengeance to set right that which has gone wrong. To these paladins – sometimes called avengers or dark knights – their own purity is not as important as delivering justice.   Tenets of Vengeance The tenets of the Oath of Vengeance vary by paladin, but all the tenets revolve around punishing wrongdoers by any means necessary. Paladins who uphold these tenets are willing to sacrifice even their own righteousness to mete out justice upon those who do evil, so the paladins are often neutral or lawful neutral in alignment. The core principles of the tenets are brutally simple.   Fight the Greater Evil. Faced with a choice of fighting my sworn foes or combating a lesser evil, I choose the greater evil.   No Mercy for the Wicked. Ordinary foes might win my mercy, but my sworn enemies do not.   By Any Means Necessary. My qualms can't get in the way of exterminating my foes.   Restitution. If my foes wreak ruin on the world, it is because I failed to stop them. I must help those harmed by their misdeeds.   ***********I give a titanium ring to all in the party so I may use Warding Bond on anyone who may need it.*******   At level 4 I had an option to change "fighting styles" so I will change to defensive instead of dueling. This will give me +1 AC instead of +2 damage   --Verx--
