Stardust

The power of the stars is something anyone can wish to have at their fingertips. And for the rare and possibly non-existent Starborne, that dream is a reality. However, that doesn't mean people can't harness the power of stars in other ways.   The existence of Stardust first appeared after the construction of The Church of Mhiri and The Temple of Rugiv, where the two cults each Megastructure belonged to respectively each used the power of a star to power the structures. While most believe that each cult simply managed to create the first artificial Stars, the cults themselves swear on their lives that they actually used two Starborne instead.   These Starborne were forced into paralyzing comas and kept on the edge of life, just enough to not kill them completely, but enough to keep them in their star forms. Kept in their star forms, the Core Containment used to safely keep them as power sources would fill with water and go completely dark, making the only light within the containment chamber come from the sleeping Starborne within. This made a process similar to the aging of wine or cheese. With enough time, the water would eventually become entirely opaque and glow the same color as the Starborne it came from.   Once the Water became opaque, it was extracted from the chamber and put into large glass tubes that would then heat up and evaporate the water, leaving behind Stardust.   Extremely hot to the touch, Stardust is a coarse powdery substance that glows, often in shades of yellow or red. It is pure energy contained in a tangible sand-like form and society's main use of fuel for just about anything large.   After the two cults of Mhiri  and Rugiv  split and their Starborne were freed, a guild of inventors that originated in Jonev (Most of which were former cult members who left from the rising tensions) not only found a way to create artificial stars (and share such information to be used galactically) but also found that the original process for creating Stardust worked on regular stars that were not celestial entities of immense power.   From there, the production of Space-Faring technology boomed as more and more fuel companies incorporated the production of Stardust into their products. Stardust was not only simple to make, but also produced massive amounts of energy, allowing Stardust to be stored for later use in twice the quantity it was being produced.
